Purpose of the role and your responsibilities;
We have an exciting opportunity for a Head of Sustainability to join our team. This is a new role within Ringway and as such you will play a pivotal role in establishing our sustainability and environmental targets for the business whilst working collaboratively with each individual contract and our parent company, the Vinci Group. The successful candidate will lead the development and delivery of the sustainability strategy and report at a senior level on its progress. You will also influence decision making within Ringway. In partnership with senior stakeholders, you will also lead behavioral change in the areas of energy, sustainability and environmental management. Provide a key link with the Vinci Construction UK Sustainability Team and ensure compliance with Group projects and initiatives

Responsibilities:
- Ensure the business and major projects are compliant with environmental legislation and other environmental and social value commitments/requirements and are prepared for any changes
- Champion the businesses' approach to compliance with parent Group's environmental ambition
- Advise internal colleagues on compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and reporting requirements
- Advise on the financial implications of decisions affecting environmental issues (e.g., waste costs, landfill tax etc.) and ensure the best financial outcome for the business is selected
- Understand Client requirements and advise on conditions of contract relating to environmental issues
- Contribute to business planning and strategy development, lead with environment/sustainability elements of business strategy
- Review sustainability related data, metrics, and reports to identify issues and potential opportunities for improvement
- Provide reports to the senior leadership team to ensure sustainability considerations are integrated into decision making across the organisation
- Lead the preparation and submission of environment/sustainability/ components of tender and prequalification responses and ensure sustainability considerations are understood and implemented
- Oversee our path to PAS2080 compliance and accreditation

Formal qualifications required;
- A degree level qualification within an environmental, sustainability or engineering related subject
- Broad sustainability experience across environment, social and nature, with knowledge and understanding of PAS2080, ISO14001 and ISO50001

Skills required;
- In depth understanding of PAS2080, ISO14001 AND ISO50001
- Good presentation skills in order to communicate effectively with all levels of staff
- Proven writing skills with the ability to provide text for bids and award submissions
- Solid IT skills with good experience with MS Office packages as well as propertitory and bespoke environmental (and other) software packages
- Good interpersonal skills

Experience required;
- Have experience within similarly multifaceted environments, with diverse risk profiles including transportation, construction and engineering

Knowledge;
- Be at the cutting edge of sustainability legislation and trends

Personal qualities;
- Ability to provide leadership to a network of HSE Advisors and Business Unit champions
- Communication skills to be credible to all levels of staff from the Managing Director and the Regional Directors to the Operatives working on site
- Good interpersonal skills
