At Schroders Wealth we look after private individuals, families and charities. We are the Wealth Management business of the FTSE-listed global investment manager Schroders. We help clients around the world invest to meet their goals, fulfil their ambitions and prepare for the future.

About Schroders

Schroders is a global investment manager with over 200 years of history and around 6,000 people across six continents. We continue to evolve with society, technology and client needs, while always remaining committed to delivering excellent investment performance and responsible stewardship.

The Role

The Head of Structured Lending will be responsible for designing, building, and leading the organisation's global structured lending capability. This senior leadership role will develop and oversee the pricing, structuring, execution, and risk management of complex lending products delivered to High Net Worth (HNW) and Ultra High Net Worth (UHNW) clients.

The remit spans multiple booking centres (UK, Channel Islands, Switzerland, Singapore) and product types, including loans secured against illiquid fund interests, private cash flows, concentrated or multi-asset portfolios, and third-party managed collateral (cash, securities, and derivatives).

Key Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership

  • Develop and implement the global structured lending strategy, aligned with the firm's broader Banking & Credit plan.
  • Build out a scalable product capability, introducing new structures, collateral types, and risk frameworks as appropriate.
  • Act as the subject-matter authority for complex credit solutions across all regions.

Product Development & Execution

  • Design, price, negotiate, and execute bespoke lending transactions, including:
  • Single-line or multi-line illiquid fund financing
  • Loans secured by private or non-standard cash flows
  • Lending against portfolios of illiquid securities or alternative assets
  • Financing structures supported by third-party managed collateral (cash, securities, derivative exposures)
  • Strengthen the organisation's execution standards, legal documentation, and underwriting quality.

Risk & Governance

  • Establish robust risk assessment, monitoring, and collateral management frameworks for non-standard credit exposures.
  • Partner closely with Credit Risk, Legal, Compliance, and Operations to ensure all structures meet regulatory and internal policy standards across jurisdictions.
  • Ensure that transaction structures reflect appropriate risk-adjusted returns and capital treatment.

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work collaboratively with regional lending teams, front-office bankers, investment specialists, and product partners across the UK, Channel Islands, Switzerland, and Singapore.
  • Advise relationship teams on structuring opportunities and provide coaching on identifying client needs for complex financing.
  • Represent the structured lending function in senior governance committees.

Team Leadership

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing structured lending team with strong execution, analytical, and credit skills.
  • Promote a culture of accountability, transparency, risk discipline, and client-centricity.

Key Skills & Experience

Technical Expertise

  • Extensive experience in structured credit, derivatives, private asset financing, fund financing, or complex wealth-lending solutions.
  • Deep knowledge of collateral and asset types including illiquid funds, private securities, cash flows, derivatives, and alternative asset portfolios.
  • Strong pricing, structuring, and risk-modelling capability, including familiarity with advanced collateral management frameworks.

Leadership & Stakeholder Management

  • Proven ability to build new capabilities and lead teams across multiple geographies.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to work directly with HNW/UHNW clients and sophisticated counterparties.
  • Demonstrated track record of influencing senior stakeholders and governance forums.

Regulatory & Cross-Jurisdictional Understanding

  • Knowledge of UK, Channel Islands, Swiss, and Singapore lending rules and regulatory constraints (or ability to quickly gain this expertise).
  • Experience navigating complex legal and documentation environments related to bespoke credit.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree required; postgraduate/MBA/CFA preferred.
  • Minimum 10-15+ years in structured credit, complex lending, private banking credit solutions, or a related field.

Success Measures

  • Establishment of a globally consistent structured lending framework.
  • Growth in structured lending volumes with appropriate risk-adjusted returns.
  • Enhanced client acquisition and retention through bespoke financing.
  • Strengthened governance, risk management, and pricing standards.
  • Development of a respected, high-performing team.
