About the Role

We are looking for an exceptional individual to be Walsall's Children's Services lead for Performance and Improvement team (across Children Social care, Access and Inclusion and Early help and partnerships). This pivotal role is key to achieving our aspiration and involves:

  • Developing and Delivering Performance Frameworks: Lead on the development and delivery of a robust Children's Services performance management framework.
  • Championing Continuous Improvement: Develop and champion our approach to continuous improvement.
  • Crafting Strategies and Policies: Lead on the development and maintenance of departmental strategies, policies, and procedures.
  • Amplifying Service User Voices: Ensure that service users' voices at the heart of our performance and improvement journey
  • Strategic Planning and Analysis: Collaborate with the Director and Assistant Directors to develop a new Children's Plan, lead on service planning, needs analyses, and innovative research.
  • Optimizing Data and Performance Functions: Ensure the most appropriate configuration of data and performance functions across the directorate

About You

You will bring:

  • In-Depth Knowledge: Experience and knowledge of children's services.
  • Leadership Experience: A proven track record in leading performance, policy, and strategy teams, working closely with senior managers, stakeholders, partners, and Elected Members.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver this in a meaningful way to a wide audience supporting a systemwide consistent understanding of our performance and drive evidence-based improvements.
  • Project and Change Management: Experience in leading successful projects and improvement programmes.
