This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Job description
Full time, Permanent

In Bristol we have a clear Vision for Adult Social Care and a plan for how to make it a reality for people who draw on care and support. Due to the imminent retirement of our Head of Service we are seeking a talented new member of our team.

What you'll be doing

Bristol is a vibrant and diverse city where creating the conditions for health and wellbeing is focused on community connection and community led action at neighbourhood level. As the Lead for the North and West locality, you will partner with locality partnership colleagues across the city to develop those neighbourhood connections where adult social care can be delivered as an offer grounded in strengths-based practice and self-help, supported by communities, and you will make sure that our statutory duties are delivered with excellence.

As the local authority lead for adult safeguarding, MCA and DoLS, you will not only make sure that our safeguarding practice is personal, you will also work strategically with colleagues and external partners to create the conditions to support a positive safety culture.

Your portfolio includes responsibility for our Young Adults Transition Service, supporting young people to get the best start in their adult life and working closely with children and education colleagues to support independence, choice and control for young people.

What we're looking for

Adult social care in Bristol is an environment full of opportunities for positive change. Reporting to the Director, Adult Social Care, you will be an experienced professional in your field, an expert in adult social care and safeguarding, and an energetic leader of change and development.

You will be an experienced operational manager and strategic leader, as comfortable with managing operational and financial performance, as you are inspiring others and engaging with people and carers.

Why Bristol City Council?
