The role & opportunity

We're Cryptio. We build infrastructure to bring financial integrity to the crypto economy. We've raised $26m from tier-1 investors (Point Nine, 1kx, Tim Draper, Alven, Ledger Cathay) and partner with clients like Circle, Uniswap, and the Government of El Salvador.

We're hiring a Head of Security (UK-based); a pragmatic engineer who will own security across our product, infrastructure, and organisation. This is a builder role: you'll be deploying tools, writing code, setting up processes, and helping us pass audits, sometimes all in the same quarter.

You'll work closely with engineering, product, and operations to bake security into everything we do. This is a chance to establish and scale the security function from day one, growing it into a leadership role as the company expands.

What you'll do

• Secure CI/CD pipelines, container workflows, infra-as-code, and deployment tooling
• Define and enforce access controls, auditing, and logging for internal services
• Evaluate and manage security tools (EDR, vulnerability scanners, SCA, etc.)
• Own and manage internal authentication (SSO, MFA, identity lifecycle)
• Secure endpoints, laptops, and internal systems
• Lead security awareness and employee training programs
• Drive SOC 1/2 and other compliance frameworks
• Build internal security policies, playbooks, and operational processes
• Manage relationships with vendors, auditors, and pentesters

We're looking for someone who

• Has 5+ years of hands-on experience in security engineering, ideally in SaaS
• Holds a CISSP or similar certification
• Brings strong knowledge of cloud security, secure software development, and common vulnerabilities
• Has proven experience securing production environments and CI/CD systems
• Understands and has worked with compliance frameworks (SOC 2, ISO 27001)
• Knows how to deploy and operationalise security tools effectively
• Communicates clearly and collaborates across teams with ease
• Takes a pragmatic, system-oriented approach to balancing risk and speed

Location

UK-based. Remote first, with visits to our London hub (and occasional trips to Paris).
