Wayman Group is delighted to present an exciting opportunity for a Head of Science to join our team at a lovely school in Epsom, Surrey. This is a full-time position starting in April. We are seeking a passionate and experienced individual who is dedicated to delivering high-quality Science education.

In this role, you will have the opportunity to lead a team of talented Science teachers and guide the development and implementation of a comprehensive Science curriculum. As the Head of Science, you will play a key role in driving academic excellence and fostering a love for Science among students. You will have the autonomy to create innovative lesson plans, plan and organize Science-related events, and collaborate with other departments to create interdisciplinary projects.

Furthermore, you will have access to state-of-the-art Science laboratories and resources to support hands-on and experiential learning. Your expertise will be valued in mentoring and supporting junior teachers, as well as in developing and implementing effective teaching strategies.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the Science department, ensuring the delivery of an engaging Science curriculum
• Provide strategic direction and support to Science teachers, fostering a culture of excellence
• Monitor and evaluate student progress in Science, implementing intervention strategies as required
• Collaborate with colleagues to develop innovative teaching and learning resources
• Promote a positive learning environment and uphold the school's values
• Contribute to the development and implementation of the school's Science program
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, behavior, and achievements

Requirements

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or equivalent
• Specialization in Science or a related field
• Postgraduate degree in Science or Science Education (preferred)

Experience and Skills:

• Significant experience teaching Science, ideally within a secondary school setting
• Demonstrated leadership and management skills, with the ability to motivate and inspire others
• Excellent knowledge of the Science curriculum and effective teaching strategies
• Strong communication, organizational, and decision-making skills
• Commitment to ongoing professional development and staying abreast of advancements in Science education
