Head of Reward & Recognition

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

About Us

The Human Resources directorate is proud to work with the King's community to provide academic and professional excellence and an outstanding educational experience for our students.

We offer support and advice to all our colleagues at all stages of their employment with King's - beginning with your recruitment and arrival at the university and continuing throughout your time with us. We seek to treat colleagues fairly where everyone has the opportunity to flourish at King's. Our Organisational Development team offers a wide range of courses and activities to support your personal and professional development.

HR is also responsible for a framework of policies and procedures, ensuring King's complies with the law and other regulations governing its operations.

About the Role

The Head of Reward and Recognition is a new senior role as King's increases investment in ensuring we are offering highly competitive employment terms and developing our Thriving Staff Community. Reward is part of HR and we seek to offer an excellent and expert colleague experience within HR and across King's.

Reward, including management of benefits and recognition, is handled by a small team (Director, Head of Service, and Analyst) so this is a role with real opportunity to make a difference - it's strategic, tactical and operational simultaneously.

The primary focus of this role is to ensure subject matter advice and expertise is available and provided to colleagues in HR as well as faculties and directorates. You will work closely with the Director of Reward and People Technology and other colleagues to ensure we develop and maintain competitive and equitable reward strategies aligned with organizational goals and sector benchmarks.

The role includes key reward reporting, analysis and processes through the annual cycle and identifying opportunities to improve the breadth and the depth of the reward offering and support and leadership provided. King's is over 12,000 people who are based mainly in the UK.

This is an indefinite full time role (35 Hours per week) although we would welcome applications from individuals seeking part time at 0.75 or more FTE.

About You

To be successful in this role, we are looking for candidates to have the following skills and experience:

Essential criteria

  1. Excellent ability to communicate specialist and technical Reward issues to HR colleagues and line managers.
  2. Deep technical understanding of Reward at a principle and practical level.
  3. Direct and extensive experience of managing Reward in a diverse organisation with multiple employee groups.
  4. Excel skills and ability to manipulate data and prepare analysis.
  5. Experience and detailed knowledge of role grading, ideally using HERA and/or Hay principles.
