Head of Quality

As Head of Quality, Vacuum Technique, your mission is to define, implement, and manage the Vacuum Technique Quality Management System (QMS), while leading a global team to embed a culture of continuous improvement. Reporting to the VP of Quality and Sustainability, you will represent the Quality Function at the Business Area level, ensuring our systems, processes, and products meet the highest standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead the global Quality Strategy for Vacuum Technique.
  • Oversee the QMS, including internal/external audits and ISO certifications (9001, 14001, 45001).
  • Champion a culture of "right first time" and continuous improvement.
  • Lead the VTBA Quality Council, monthly Quality Managers meetings, and the annual Quality Day.
  • Integrate newly acquired businesses into VT quality systems and standards.
  • Define and uphold supplier and customer quality standards.
  • Manage global product compliance, engineering systems, and the New Product Introduction (NPI) process.
  • Promote "Design for Reliability" and strong product reliability practices.
  • Mentor and develop a high-performing global quality team, influencing quality functions across Vacuum Technique

The Scope

Global team: 8 direct reports, wider team of approximately 13 people and growing, across 4 countries

Influence: 200 decentralised quality professionals, 14,000 employees worldwide

Budget responsibility: $2M

Global travel and collaboration with stakeholders in 20+ countries

To succeed, you will need

  • Degree in Engineering or Science (advanced degree preferred).
  • 15+ years of international experience in quality management within engineering.
  • Strong knowledge of ISO standards (9001, 14001, 45001); Six Sigma/Kaizen is a plus.
  • Background in manufacturing, product compliance, and supplier/customer quality standards.
  • Proven leadership in global, cross-functional environments.
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, influencing, and change management skills.

Job location

Hybrid
This role offers a hybrid working arrangement, allowing you to split your time between working remotely and being on-site at our Global Technology Centre in Burgess Hill, West Sussex.
