  • Job Title - Head of Procurement.
  • Location - Field-based with frequent travel to our Head Office in Bury, BL9 8RR and International Travel.
  • Working rota - Monday to Friday.
  • Working hours - 40 hours per week.

Role Overview:

The Head of Property Procurement will support the JD Group Head of Procurement (Global Property) to manage the sourcing and development (including allocation and supply) strategy of all fixtures and fittings, property-related services and construction items associated with JD group brands globally. Liaising between key stakeholders throughout the group including Cost Management, Construction, Retail, Design and in-country teams up to Director/SVP level.

The Head Of Property Procurement will lead a team of procurement and allocation/supply professionals responsible for supplier management, stock forecasting, fixture development, tendering, 3PL and final mile delivery. The role will also ensure we meet our high standards of corporate governance across all markets.

A key objective will be identifying, delivering, and reporting cost savings alongside the global procurement strategywhilst ensuring we have clear and simple processes in place to support the wider team. What You'll Be Doing:

As a Head of Procurement , you'll be doing the following:

  • Manage all aspects of the development and rollout of fixtures and fittings to store projects across JD Group brands. This includes but is not limited to flooring, lighting, woodwork, metalwork, professional services, freight and 3 rd party logistics.
  • To have full commercial awareness of all projects undertaken.
  • Oversee all group tendering across multiple countries and group business.
  • Leads a team of Property Procurement Managers / coordinators and Allocations and Supply managers responsible for ensuring all new stores and projects are completed on time, and budget.
  • Manages a team of Allocation and Supply professionals to ensure we have a cost effective 3PL / final mile delivery or in-house fixture and fitting warehouse function.
  • Supporting the rollout of new stores from design conception to hand over.
  • Working alongside the JD design team and external design agencies to ensure value-engineered solutions are considered at an early stage in the development process.
  • Building strong relationships between head office functions and the supplier base / external procurement partners.
  • Drives cost efficiency in everything we do and is commercially responsible for identifying savings across the property function.
  • Develops a clear tender strategy, identifying key cost drivers and risk to the store capex.
  • Undertakes complete financial analysis of supplier contracts.
  • Will be commercially aware of all costs associated with the Fixture and Fittings package and associated construction items.
  • Supports the global procurement strategy.
  • Regularly reports cost initiatives to the senior leadership team.
  • Implements all JD Group due diligence and audit processes / corporate governance.
  • Manages the procurement lifecycle: bulk call off, consolidation, final mile delivery.
  • Identifies cost synergies across all groups, driving down spend and reporting on cost savings.
  • Works closely with Group Cost Manager function to support all local tendering objectives.
  • Ensures SLA's and contracts are identified and completed for all JD suppliers and that all local suppliers meet global standards.
  • Delivers to JD Groups high ethical and environmental standards.
  • Responsible for collaborating with all internal stakeholders to ensure a clear brief is issued for any local procurement needs.
  • Supporting the construction project teams in developing the overall critical path, ensuring all parties are aware of key dates, prototype requirements and risk.
  • Supporting the global team through critical path engagement, ensuring delivery timelines and requirements are met whilst supporting the on-boarding of new business where required.
  • Working with Retail Project Teams and Project Managers to ensure ALL projects open on time and budget.
  • Ensuring the QS team has all relevant costs as required and supporting all value engineering initiatives.
  • Facilitating and managing internal multi-disciplinary stakeholder meetings as required.
  • Additional duties and projects as required.

What We're Looking For:

  • Strong Numerical and analytical skills / commercially aware.
  • Experience in leading a team.
  • Clear understanding of the principles of project management and the procurement function.
  • Ability to read and understand store layouts, GAs, elevations and design intent.
  • Understanding of retail fixtures and fittings.
  • Ability to influence multiple stakeholders across the group at all levels.
  • Effective communicator with excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience in reporting to SVP level
  • Experience of working on multiple projects at the same time.
  • Ability to adjust to real-time situations and adapt accordingly.
  • Self-motivated and driven but can work as part of a team.
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to develop a team
  • Ability to develop a clear, workable and costed strategy
  • Proficient IT skills including Microsoft, Google etc.
  • Role is field based with travel throughout North America.

Required Education and/or Experience.

  • Previous Property Procurement Management experience is essential at a senior level ideally within a fast-paced retail sector for 10+ years.
  • Highly effective Planning skills.
  • Previous experience of working in a fast paced retail environment preferred.
  • Procurement-related qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
  • Prince 2 or equivalent qualification would be advantageous but not essential.
