Job Advert - Head of Project Delivery Estates Regeneration

We have a diverse, exciting, and challenging opportunity for someone to lead and shape a major estate regeneration project in Sheffield.

The Gleadless Valley Masterplan sets out Sheffield City Council's vision and objectives for the future of this post-war housing estate of over 4,500 homes set in a stunning natural landscape. Our vision is for Gleadless Valley to continue to be a great place to live, grow up and grow older, with fantastic green spaces and good quality housing. It will have a strong sense of community spirit and allow its residents to thrive.

Following a review of the Masterplan, the Council wants to implement a new approach to regeneration that will involve working across Council departments and with partners such as developers and investors to deliver new and improved housing, public spaces and community initiatives. This is a high-profile project for the Council that already has a £40m capital funding allocation, an existing delivery team and the backing of the Council's political and officer leadership.

We are looking for someone to fill a newly created role to provide senior leadership for this new approach. Over the coming year, your task will be to lead the existing Gleadless Valley Regeneration Team (7 full time equivalents) and an extended team from across the council and beyond in developing exciting yet deliverable proposals to transform the physical environment and life chances of Gleadless Valley tenants and residents, while ensuring delivery of projects on the ground continues and accelerates.

If this approach is successful in Gleadless Valley, there will be opportunities to address the regeneration of other council estates across the city.

You will have senior experience of delivering major housing or regeneration projects, ideally including the renewal of existing affordable housing estates. You should understand social and economic regeneration approaches and the issues involved in securing external investment through partnership working. You must be able to confidently represent the Council at a senior level and galvanise a wide range of stakeholders, including Council officers, elected members, funding bodies, community groups, voluntary sector, private sector partners and local tenants and residents.

The successful post holder will be a positive, tenacious person with the ability to drive progress and quickly adapt to find solutions to problems as they arise while staying focussed on long-term goals.

The role will be based at Solpro, Attercliffe and Gleadless Valley and there will also be the opportunity to work from home.

If this role sounds of interest to you and you can see yourself leading a motivated and creative team to deliver change for our residents, then we would love to hear from you.

We are investing in our workforce and are promoting opportunities to our under-represented groups. We value equality, diversity and inclusion and are focused on increasing the diversity of our workforce, particularly the number of Black, Asian, Minority Ethnic, Disabled and LGBTQ+ people, so that our teams reflect the communities in the city we serve. We are also supporting staff with unpaid caring responsibilities to work flexibly.

It is a great time to join us and we welcome your application.

Under the Disability Confident Scheme, disabled applicants, who meet the essential criteria of this job, are guaranteed an interview.
