The Role: Head of Product

The Head of Product is responsible for all aspects of the IAL Product and Powertrain portfolio strategy, including Product Strategy, Product Direction, Product Marketing and Product Lifecycle Management.

This requires a deep understanding of the market (customer, competition, trends, technologies, legal frameworks, environmental factors and pricing), the ability to identify opportunities to either expand or enhance the Product offering, defining the vision of the product, gathering and prioritizing product requirements, plus close collaboration with Design, Engineering, Homologation, Programme Management, Finance and the wider Commercial team, to develop and launch coherent and compelling products which deliver upon the business vision, brand positioning, customer needs and financial targets.

Duties of the Head of Product:

  • Product and Powertrain Cycle Planning
  • IAL portfolio lifecycle volume planning, including overall market equation to feed in to business case
  • Product Direction of approved programmes, including product positioning, attribute target setting, options and accessories offering, lifecycle volume planning and pricing
  • Lifecycle management of live vehicle programmes to ensure product lifecycle actions are implemented to optimise the product offering, react to changes in the market, maximise customer satisfaction and enhance the business case (revenue specifically)
  • Product Marketing and commercial launch of all products

For our Head of Product we are looking for:

  • Ideally holding a qualification in Engineering or Product Design
  • Extensive experience in Product or Marketing within an Automotive OEM HQ
  • Pan-European or global experience essential
  • Proven experience working as a product manager in a non-managerial role
  • Proven ability of working cross-functionally as part of an OEM product development programme and demonstrable knowledge to develop brand and marketing strategies and effectively communicate recommendations to executive management.
  • Managed substantial budgets; experience co-ordinating agencies to successfully complete multiple projects.
