Job Description

  • Team Leader responsible for managing and leading a team of Client Directors, Managers and Associates covering a National client base of UK SMEs and Corporates
  • Managing performance, strategy and motivating the Commercial Loans Portfolio team
  • Providing support and guidance on complex in-life client management
  • Develop and maintain strong relationship with Clients at board level, maximising client life and retention
  • Understand risk drivers, monitor triggers and ensure risk is managed within credit policy and operational mandates
  • Work with the team to identify opportunities to provide further facilities to existing customers utilising a 'can do' and problem-solving mindset to support client aspirations.
  • Responsible for overseeing and supporting Client Directors / Managers with the end-to-end credit process, including negotiating with clients, the production of high-quality credit papers and presentations to Credit Committee and completion through to legals.
  • Review underperforming Clients within the portfolio and recommend action to the Risk/Credit Committee.
  • Comply with all client reporting metrics - producing reviews/reports as appropriate to internal risk or Risk/Credit committees.
  • Consider market, macroeconomic and regulatory impacts on the portfolio and take necessary actions where appropriate, including updating relevant Risk Committees on early warning signs.
  • Undertake periodic portfolio reviews focusing on key trend and any lessons learned
  • Play a vital role in rolling out new strategic initiatives for Structured Finance, including compliance, regulatory and risk management oversight, and attend relevant industry events
  • Lead reviews of operational activities and practices across the team and be a lead supporter of embedding new technology and processes.

Qualifications

  • Degree-level qualification
  • Proven experience with 7 years plus experience in banking, with a particular focus on UK SME cashflow lending, preferably with Portfolio Management experience
  • Comprehensive understanding Commercial Loan product range and procedures
  • Significant experience in structuring & executing transactions and risk management
  • A proven team leader with strong skills in managing, developing and motivating teams
  • Computer literate (good knowledge of MS Office suite - Excel, Word, Power-Point)
  • Strong analytical & financial analysis skills
  • Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills.
  • Enthusiastic "can do" attitude
