Salary: G15 £70,227 - £84,020 per annum, pro-rata

Contract: Fixed term for nine months, full time

We are currently recruiting for an Interim Head of Service for Performance and Development for the Families First Programme in Walsall Children's Services.

In Walsall we have a continuous focus on improvement to ensure we can achieve our Walsall Right For Children (WR4C) aspiration that every child and family in Walsall is understood, feels happy and safe, with a strong sense of belonging enabling them to learn, achieve, and succeed.

Through building strong foundations and focussed priorities we have successfully improved our processes, practice and partnerships across the borough to secure improved outcomes for children and families. The continuous improvements made through the WR4C programme has been acknowledged through a number of recent inspections.

About the Role

We are looking for a Performance and Improvement Lead for the Families First Programme for a fixed-term period of 9 months.

  • Developing and Delivering Performance Frameworks: Lead on the development and delivery of a robust performance management framework for Families First.
  • Championing Continuous Improvement: Develop and champion our approach to continuous improvement.
  • Crafting Strategies and Policies: Lead on the development and maintenance of departmental strategies, policies, and procedures for Families First.
  • Amplifying Service User Voices: Ensure that service users' voices at the heart of our performance and improvement journey.
  • Optimizing Data and Performance Functions: Ensure the most appropriate configuration of data and performance functions across the directorate

About You

You will bring:

  • In-Depth Knowledge: Experience and knowledge of children's services.
  • Leadership Experience: A proven track record in leading performance, policy, and strategy teams, working closely with senior managers, stakeholders, partners, and Elected Members.
  • Analytical Skills: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to interpret complex data and deliver this in a meaningful way to a wide audience supporting a system wide consistent understanding of our performance and drive evidence-based improvements.
  • Project and Change Management: Experience in leading successful projects and improvement programmes.
