About the role
We have are looking for a Head of People to join our field people partnering team. This Head of role will cover our Southern Territory and provides a critical strategic leadership partnership role in the shaping and delivery of the people strategy across Boots UK's Retail Operations, Logistics & Central Operations Function. Partnering with all Directors, and the senior HR leadership team, and COEs. It ensures that our people agenda drives commercial performance, customer excellence, and colleague engagement in all growth, transformation and operational execution activity.
Reporting to the Director of People, you will lead a team of People Partners focused on future workforce planning, building leadership capability, and growing great talent at all levels.
Key responsibilities
- Partnering with Directors to execute the people strategy for Boots UK Stores, Logistics & Central Operations.
- Leads by linking HR/people initiatives and solutions directly to business goals, clearly articulating and demonstrating the measurable value that people teams bring
- Be a senior advisor to business teams and COEs in shaping organisational frameworks and priorities for workforce planning, talent, capability, reward, employee relations and engagement.
- Influences SLT and Exec decision-making through aligned commercial insight and people analytics to drive business growth and operational excellence.
- Leads the People Partner team in delivering regional and functional people plans aligned to company goals, customer strategy, and financial performance.
- Owns the end-to-end talent and succession strategy across Stores, Logistics & Central Operations, ensuring robust pipelines for critical leadership and specialist roles.
- Drives a culture of coaching, feedback, and continuous improvement across all leadership levels.
- Is a change agent for transformation programmes (structural, cultural, and behavioural change) supporting leaders to lead change effectively to ensure Boots UK remains fit for the future growth.
- Oversees the effective implementation of change programmes across multiple programmes & regions, ensuring consistency of execution and a positive colleague experience.
- Shape and embed an inclusive, purpose-led culture that connects the Support Office Teams with Stores, inspiring colleagues to deliver an exceptional customer experience.
- Use colleague insights and data to identify opportunities to enhance engagement and experience across all store and operational teams.
- Champion diversity, equity, and inclusion programs, ensuring representation and belonging are embedded across the business.
- Drive initiatives that strengthen colleague wellbeing, deliver main people metrics and a deep connection to the Boots purpose and Promise.
What you'll need to have
- Proven track record in senior HR leadership roles, ideally within large multi-site retail or operations environments.
- Experience of shaping and delivering a large-scale people strategy that drives measurable business outcomes.
- Deep expertise in organisational design, workforce planning, and leadership development.
- Exceptional stakeholder management with experience advising at executive or board level.
- Proven success leading and developing high-level performing HR teams.
- Experience driving cultural transformation and embedding values-led leadership.
