Description

We're looking for a compassionate, pro-active and experienced Head of People to join us on a fixed term contract, covering maternity leave. You'll be responsible for leading the People team at MPG ensuring that we're operating an efficient, supportive, proactive and modern People function with the support of a fantastic team.

Our main HQ is in Nottingham, UK but you will be working with a truly global workforce with many of our team being located within Europe and the Americas.

As Head of People, you will be a true partner to the leadership and senior management team, responsible for ensuring that people initiatives are aligned with our business goals and that new challenges are met with a solutions oriented approach.

What you'll be doing:

Leading on People Strategy

  • Ensuring the delivery of the people strategy for 2025 and ensuring that as new developments arise that the plans remain relevant and deployed professionally.
  • Coaching and advising the people team on the best course of action for delivery inline with the defined timelines
  • Working closely with the central People & Culture team at our parent company, Keywords Studios to ensure that MPG are supporting any wider people initiatives as part of the group strategy
  • Ensuring the smooth delivery of key annual people projects such as salary review, four monthly development conversations and any employment law changes.

Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging

  • Ensuring that the People Team executes on the Diversity, Inclusion and Belonging strategy for all our departments and teams
  • Staying up to date with developments in this area and responding accordingly to ensure MPG is an inclusive place to work

Team Management

  • Leading and coaching the People team, ensuring that they are well supported and growing within their roles
  • Monitoring the team engagement scores and responding to any changes that may enhance the wellbeing or motivation of the team
  • Supporting the team where required and not being afraid to get involved where needed to cover absence, holiday, periods of high workload

Data Analysis

  • Utilising our data sources to continually monitor and respond to key data metrics
  • Utilisation of the internal engagement survey, Peakon, to ensure that participation is high, responses are monitored and using this as a data source to inform the leadership of any trends or themes
  • Providing monthly updates to our Senior Leadership Team on People metrics and highlighting anything that needs escalation

Business Partner

  • Act as business partner to the Senior Leadership and Management team, supporting them with insights, employee relations support as required
  • To cover additional leave in the team, you will also be business partner to circa 50 people across a number of functions (central and design teams predominantly)
  • Able to provide coaching and advice where required to get the best out of our people
  • Support managers with guidance around performance management, career planning, development and engagement - with particular emphasis on the pastoral care of staff
  • Managing International Teams
  • Ability to manage a predominantly remote and international workforce
  • Staying up to date with local labour law and market trends

Other

  • Supporting the organisational culture at MPG to ensure it is a fantastic place to work
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with People & Culture counterparts in our parent company to ensure smooth people operations and collaboration
  • Comfortable facilitating internal training

What you can bring to MPG:

  • Previous experience within a similar role
  • Experience in managing and developing an international workforce and understanding of the need for clear communication and consistency wherever possible
  • Track record delivering in a fast moving, dynamic environment where things can change quickly and the right solution to a problem is often ambiguous
  • Comfortable acting as a coach, line manager and advisor to employees at all levels of the business on People related issues
  • Analytical, with the ability to gather and interpret data, but not afraid to make decisions based on logic or experience
  • Understanding of Spanish Employment law and other European locations would be highly desirable
  • Experience of working with Workday as a HRIS would be highly desirable

  • Working with the wider People Team to continuously support and develop our processes
  • Pragmatic and solutions oriented approach to HR
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proven ability to handle sensitive and confidential information
  • Up to date knowledge of employment law. An understanding of Spanish/ Canadian legislation would be desirable along with any other European law
  • Excellent coaching skills
  • Not afraid to get involved and cover all aspects of a generalist People role
