In a nutshell...

We are looking for a resilient confident Head of People to join our excellent HR function. We're looking for an enthusiastic and self-motivating go getter who can become an integral part of the HR team, building strong partnerships with our internal stakeholders within Cheil.

What the day to day looks like...

  • Report directly to UK CFO of Cheil Europe and support regional CFO for HR management matters in Europe region in align with Cheil HQ policies and guidelines.
  • Responsible for the service delivery and operational excellence of HR, Recruitment and Office Management
  • Drive local/internal HR process improvement and support CFO on operational optimisation across the business
  • Partner with the IT Operations Manager to maintain the Employee portal project via JIRA/Confluence, with support from People Coordinator
  • Launch values driven culture, working with Management Team, HR Advisor, Recruitment Manager and Office Manager to embedding them through all processes and policies
  • Build relationship with HQ and work with RHQ Director to facilitate the harmonisation of European office processes and policies
  • Provide CFO with regular data and insights into the People function to ensure Management Team are engaged with People initiatives
  • Utilise the in house HR system to its full capacity and actively work with RHQ and HQ contacts to feed in local requirements
  • Partner with the Finance Director to manage annual processes including bonus, appraisals and pay review
  • Point of escalation for ER issues, providing mentoring and coaching to the HR Advisor/Manager on ER issues where necessary including Regional Cheil Offices

People Strategy

  • Continually review the People strategy and make recommendations and improvements for positive results.
  • Work with the CEO and CFO to deliver results in line with department goals to achieve the Cheil people agenda.
  • Initiate ideas and deliver improvements to the way the HR team functions, including collaborating with other Cheil agencies in European region.

Recruitment

  • Work closely with the CEO and CFO to manage Cheil London's headcount budget.
  • Get to the heart of the agency's resourcing needs and work with the leadership team and heads of department to resource plan their departments and the agency as a whole.
  • Provide guidance to recruiting managers on recruiting.

Employee Relations

  • Be the HR lead and fully support and coach managers through all employee relations issues including, performance management, disciplinary, grievances, restructures etc.
  • Coach Managers and lead on restructure, effectively managing any redeployment or redundancy processes.
  • Successfully manage and minimise risk to the agency whilst successfully managing employee relations cases.
  • Build a bank of templates, documents and policies for use by the rest of the team and other network agencies.

Training and Development

  • Develop and implement a Training and Development Plan which is aligned to the agency's positioning while keeping HQ's guideline. Work closely with the leadership team to shape this and to ensure that it is fit for purpose.
  • Overall responsibility for the delivery of the training plan, developing training programmes with internal talent and external providers.
  • Work with managers to continuously develop their teams and work with individuals to develop and shape their career at Cheil.

Talent Management

  • Oversee and continually improve the goal setting and appraisal process.
  • Work with managers to talent map their teams and build an agency talent map. Formulate team people plans and targeted talent initiatives to manage our talent.
  • Identify superstars and rising stars and develop approaches to motivate, engage and develop them.
  • Highlight succession needs and build a solid succession plan for each team.

Reporting

  • Work closely with the RHQ team members (based in London) and colleagues in Cheil HQ (Seoul Office) to produce and maintain accurate reporting.
  • Develop and maintain the relationship with the Global HR team, ensuring that their requests are dealt with in a timely manner.
  • Lead on corporate audits for HR related information.
  • Tailor HQ direction and initiatives to the Regional team where appropriate.

Culture

  • Develop a staff engagement plan, communicating and promoting initiatives across the agency.
  • Ensure that staff wellbeing is front of mind in all initiatives.
  • Navigate and manage leadership team and the rest of the business through period of change.
  • Use negotiation skills to navigate complex and sensitive scenarios.
  • Use experience and skills to navigate complex political situations.

Team Management

  • Provide supportive line management and coaching to the HR Advisor and HR Co-ordinator to manage performance and development.
  • Line management of Office Management team.
  • Overall responsibility for accurate HR information, systems and reporting

  • Able to deal with ambiguity

Ideally you'll have these already:

  • CIPD qualified
  • Ideally educated to degree level or equivalent
  • Previous experience of managing training plans at company level is desirable
  • Experience of initiating cultural and engagement drives
  • Solid HR generalist experience at Senior HR Manager / Head of HR level or equivalent
  • Experience in an agency environment

  • Worked into a CFO/CEO before eg. Reported into a non-HR professional
  • Confident in challenging senior management and 'managing up'
  • Previous experience of working in a Group with an overseas HQ
  • Operationally strong but with an understanding/some experience of generalist HR
