What to expect

We are searching for a Head of People to join our cutting-edge quantum computing start-up. This is a brand new role as we've now reached a stage of growth where we need the guidance and expertise of a People specialist, who will work with the full support of our founders, Chris and Tom. We have put some solid People foundations in place, and now it's time to take it to the next stage!

What you'll be responsible for

As the Head of People, you will be responsible for the full-cycle employee experience, ensuring that our team feels valued, motivated, and supported. This includes overseeing performance management, compensation, career progression, recognition programmes, and fostering an inclusive and diverse work environment. You will have responsibility for the full-cycle People function, from day-to-day execution through to overall strategy. You'll work closely with our Operations team, and you'll report to our VP of Operations, Emma.

You will have the opportunity to design and implement our first-ever People strategy, aligning it with our overall business objectives. Your creative input will be essential in developing and executing new processes and initiatives that make Oxford Ionics the best place to work.

You will work closely with senior leadership, presenting your ideas with clarity and confidence to gain buy-in. In addition, you will play a key role in supporting and nurturing our managers, helping them navigate their transition into leadership roles. Alongside the Operations team, you will contribute to internal communications efforts, ensuring effective and transparent information flow throughout the organisation.

Requirements

To succeed in this role, you will need experience working in a People team at a scaling business, having experienced the growing pains of an early-stage team.

You should have a proven track record of building People processes from scratch, demonstrating your ability to shape and execute an effective People function. Your experience should encompass both strategic leadership and operational execution, allowing you to balance long-term transformative work with day-to-day People matters.

As a strong communicator, you should possess the ability to engage and influence senior stakeholders, presenting your ideas with clarity and confidence. Building trust at all levels of the organisation is essential, and your exceptional communication skills will facilitate effective collaboration and relationship-building. It will be a bonus if you have experience in these areas within a technical, science or engineering-led organisation.

Benefits

Oxford Ionics is at the cutting edge of quantum innovation. We need people like you with the necessary skills, vision and capability. In return, we'll recognise your engagement and excellence with a range of benefits. You'll find opportunities to further your career with a world-class team, business stock options, unlimited annual leave, flexible working hours with either hybrid or onsite working, private medical insurance for you and your family and much more.

Oxford Ionics is committed to equal opportunity for all.
