About the role

We are looking for a Head of Origination & Structuring, to lead the sourcing of carbon credits from high-quality carbon projects. This is a role for a proven leader with a deep understanding of the carbon market. You will be responsible for building a high-performing team, defining the function strategy and all project-related tasks.

What you will be doing

• Lead a team of climate and investment experts responsible for originating and structuring commercial agreements with project developers and intermediaries in the VCM
• Drive client conversations and understand suitable investment opportunities and carbon projects in the VCM
• Own strategic portfolio planning and develop a supply pipeline in alignment with volume and cost expectations
• Foster collaboration between developers, investors, existing and prospective customers, and the internal teams at Abatable
• Lead due diligence of VCM project development opportunities (against Abatable's quality framework) on behalf of customers
• Lead and oversee all contracting negotiations and deal structuring, including travel to client engagements and project site visits
• Oversee preparation and presentation of project opportunities in client's investment committees
• Become Abatable's brand ambassador in industry-related events and conferences to proactively expand the existing project partner network
• Responsible for managing large partnerships with project owners, investors and suppliers, focused on supporting them with distribution and market intelligence services

Who we're looking for

• 8+ years of experience in climate finance, investment advisory and/or environmental markets trading
• Experience managing complex projects and structuring large transactions in the voluntary carbon markets and/or other environmental markets
• Someone with a strong network of project owners and investors in the impact and climate space. A focus on nature-based and CDR-related ecosystems is a plus
• Experience with project development under Verra, Gold Standard, CDM and other emerging standards is preferred
