The Role
The Head of Operations is a critical leadership position responsible for overseeing all operational aspects of our seafood manufacturing factory. This role involves ensuring efficient production processes, maintaining high-quality standards, driving continuous improvement initiatives, and leading a team to achieve operational excellence. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in manufacturing operations, a passion for process improvement, and a proven ability to lead and inspire teams.
Salary Range: £85,000 - £96,000 per annum, dependent on experience
Duties Include:
Operational Management & Continuous Improvement
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives to improve yield, labour and other key measures of success
- Lead daily and weekly operational meetings, such as Daily Directional Setting (DDS) to oversee daily operations of the manufacturing facility, ensuring compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards.
- Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising on quality or safety.
Team Leadership
- Manage, mentor, and develop a multifunctional high-performing operations team, promoting a collaborative and results-driven work environment.
- Conduct regular performance reviews and provide feedback to support team members' growth and development.
- Ensure effective communication and coordination between departments to achieve operational goals.
Culture
- Foster a culture of innovation and continuous learning among the workforce.
- Support the development of a Quality Culture, ensuring that all products meet the highest quality standards and customer specifications.
- Promote a safe working environment through regular training, audits, and risk assessments, role modelling what great looks like.
- Act upon colleague feedback through our annual survey, leading Colleague Forums, and driving the site action plan.
Skills & Experience Required:
Required
- Significant experience in a senior manufacturing leadership position, with responsibility for multiple functions.
- Broad knowledge of FMCG manufacturing processes, including chilled and ambient products, and dealing with major retailers and own-label products.
- Demonstrable experience in delivering significant improvement projects, including CAPEX.
Desirable
- Proven experience in the seafood or a similar industry is highly desirable.
- IOSH qualification
- Food safety level 4
