Job summary

We take the health and wellbeing of our employees very seriously. You will be committed and responsible for the management of the OH team in the service delivery for all the Trust's employees and a number of external organisations, achieving a number of performance and financial targets.

It will involve cross site travel to our other sites at Margate and Ashford to operate clinical and leadership duties. This role offers a great opportunity to influence strategy and service development, as well as providing clinical and operational leadership as part of our senior OH & Wellbeing team.

The multi-disciplinary department is committed to achieving and sustaining high quality services, and has been SEQOHS accredited since 2013. The department consists of occupational health physicians, nurses and occupational therapists with the manual handling team and wellbeing service, supported by a business, data and administration team.

The successful applicants will have up to date knowledge of best evidence-based practice in occupational health and wellbeing and legal requirements. You will also require effective leadership and organisational skills.

Applicants should have established skills in Occupational Health and Wellbeing and should possess relevant experience in the NHS with specialist qualification or equivalent experience.

Main duties of the job

Leading the Occupational Health (OH) and Manual Handling teams to plan and deliver high-quality services to the Trust staff and external clients.

Provide strategic direction and professional leadership to the service.

Responsible for the management of the financial resources for the service within agreed limits, ensuring that services are provided efficiently and cost effectively and to the highest possible quality.

Ensure that all OH staff are appropriately managed and that all health professionals are clinically and professionally developed and are efficient, effective, engaged and highly motivated.

Overall responsibility for the management of all operations within OH ensuring all work is planned and delivered within agreed timescales and within available resources working closely with the team leads.

Oversee the effective implementation of relevant Trust policies/procedures for staff within OH.

Undertake annual appraisals, objective setting, management of sickness and performance.
