Detailed job description and main responsibilities
• Lead internal process for CQC self-assessments across the Directorate to ensure the 5 CQC domains are achieved in all areas and develop robust monitoring processes to address areas of variation.
• Accountable for the delivery of clinical quality, safety, and risk management in all service areas
• Provide leadership in fostering a safety culture throughout all clinical areas through training and increasing knowledge and awareness.
• Translate national policy into clinical practice, horizon scanning and benchmarking to inform the key priorities for the Directorate.
• Work in collaboration with Service leads to ensure safe staffing establishments are triangulated to achieve the annual workforce plans, offering robust challenge to underpin service activity and demand. Provide expertise in skill mixing to inform workforce planning.

Work in collaboration with Practice Development staff to manage the training plan and pipeline to ensure appropriate education, training

Skill & Abilities

Essential criteria

  • Highly competent in applying expertise within a multi professional arena. This will include the use of analytical thinking, decision making, leadership and other specialist skills to work with others towards the goal of improving the quality of the service user's experience
  • Drive a quality culture from 'ward to board' by leading by example and fostering local ownership of patient safety and oversight embedded at local level.
  • Day to day leadership responsibilities may require the post holder to deal with personal staff issues.
  • Excellent communication skills to engage and influence staff, peers and partners across all areas.
  • Accountable for driving improvements to close gaps in variation including timely clinical assessment, diagnosis, treatment and management of complex patients in line with local and national guidelines
  • To communicate a range of complex, sensitive and contentious information in a range of formats including one to one meetings, formal and informal meetings, written reports and electronic communication including small databases.

Desirable criteria

  • Excellent facilitation and presentation skills to translate national policy into local implementation
  • Advocate and champion patients' rights, including dignity, equality, diversity choice and respect and provide high quality care based on best practice. Act as the patient's and relatives' advocate when necessary
  • Able to maintain high levels of prolonged concentration including analysing and producing performance information, scrutinising delivery plans, writing reports and formulating future strategies in climate with many competing priorities.

Knowledge & Experience

Essential criteria

  • Registered Health Care professional including AHP or Registered Mental Health or LD Nursing.
  • Experience of leading CQC preparation and inspections
  • Excellent understanding of CQC 5 Domains and how to measure compliance.
  • Ability to interpret and understand complex data, analysis and assimilate into action plans.
  • Line management of staff including performance management
  • Production of high-quality written reports for assurance and board reporting

Desirable criteria

  • Post graduate degree level or equivalent knowledge and experience.
  • Up to date awareness of national initiatives relating to nursing and AHP's.
  • In-depth knowledge of safeguarding.
