Are you passionate about shaping the future of medical HR? We are seeking a dynamic and visionary leader to join our team as the Head of Medical HR. In this pivotal role, you will provide professional leadership and guidance to our medical workforce agenda, including medical HR, recruitment, and retention. You will be at the forefront of developing and delivering a long-term medical workforce strategy to meet the current and future needs of our organization, ensuring a sustainable workforce.

Main duties of the job
What You'll Do:
- Lead an enthusiastic team to enhance our service offering and embrace innovative ways of working to deliver high-quality HR services to our 5,000-strong medical workforce.
- Develop and embed medium to long-term resourcing strategies to reduce vacancy rates and support resourcing plans.
- Improve the quality of our attraction, selection and onboarding processes to provide an engaging and inclusive approach
- Innovate our recruitment approach to attract junior and other grades, ensuring we deliver a proactive approach to rotations and filling vacant posts and support the development of new roles to address specialty shortages
- Establish brand awareness and create candidate attraction and retention strategies.
- Provide training and education for managers, rota coordinators, and HR colleagues on medical terms and conditions.
- Embed a strong governance culture supporting the engagement of medical staff through substantive, bank, honorary and other types of contract.
- Collaborate with various departments, including the People & OD teams, Medical Director's Office, Medical Education, divisional colleagues, the consultant body, and operational management teams, to fully contribute to the management of our medical workforce at a Trust level and with external partners.

- Masters degree or equivalent level of training, knowledge, skills and experience
- Evidence of continuing professional development.

Essential criteria
- Extensive experience in managing medical workforce employee relations and terms and conditions
- Record of achievement in innovation and workforce transformation
- Record of achieving effective change management
- Experience in leading, managing and training a team of direct reports.
- Significant experience of senior leadership and partnership working gained within either public or private sector organisations
- Demonstrable success achieving demanding targets and meeting service level agreements
- Experience identifying, analysing solution, making recommendations and delivering HR local or national priorities and innovative initiatives within budgetary / time constraints.
Desirable criteria
- Evidence of delivering medical productivity transformation programmes
- Active involvement in medical workforce developments at a sector or national level
Skills/Knowledge/ Abilities
Essential criteria
- Detailed knowledge of M&D terms and conditions, employment law as it applies to M&D staff, including 2016 junior doctors contract
- Highly developed business acumen and sound political judgement in working within complex policy and diverse range of interest groups.
- Interpreting national guidance and identifying local impact
- Able to draft complex business cases, tendering documents and policies.
- Able to build credible and influential working relationships at all levels within and outside the organisation
- Able to think and plan strategically, tactically and creatively and to prioritise in the face of competing demands.
- Able to develop productive, collaborative working relationships
- Able to interpret, integrate and apply employment legislation across a range of key HR and resourcing projects and initiatives.
