Head of Marketing, Northern European Distributor Markets

What your role is

The Head of Marketing, NEDM & OEP/NV Brand connector will be responsible for leading the marketing team across brands and markets in NEDM, with Germany, Nordics, CHAT and BENELUX as markets. This individual will be responsible for developing and executing Marketing plans across the GMI portfolio in Northern European distributor markets, managing the total media and marketing budgets and driving marketing campaigns and activations across the region.

They would need to partner effectively with internal and external stakeholders amongst the cross-functional team, including Sales, Trade Marketing, Supply Chain and Finance, as well as engage effectively with our distributors and their teams in each market to ensure marketing launches and plans are executed effectively. They would also need to engage with the regional and global teams cross-functionally across brands (representing GEMs as the Snack Brand Connector) as well as Media, PR and other Brand Experience agencies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the annual brand planning process to determine focus brands and key plan makers by brand and country. Lead the market scan for growth opportunities amongst existing operations (market share winning in an operating market) or consumer opportunities to drive Geo Expansion.
  • Development and execution of annual brand plans including, securing strong 4Ps sufficiency to deliver commercial targets. Manage and allocate the marketing budgets for NEDM efficiently.
  • Lead a team of 4 marketeers and one Packaging Coordinator to ensure the delivery of Marketing plans across markets are developed and executed efficiently. Manage portfolio and innovation, pricing and promotional strategies and develop efficient Brand Activation (BX) media strategies by brand, partnering with the media agencies.
  • Define NPDs and champion Launch to Win process. Work closely with BDT (and other Brand Connectors) to secure NPD and Core plan sufficiency, including chartering projects when necessary.
  • Work closely with the cross-functional team and Distributors partners to deliver annual targets, launch and execute with success across markets.
  • Present plans and monthly updates and analysis of performance/ROI to the Regional Leadership Team.
  • Drive F24/F25 Accelerators - build HD in the Nordics, Snacks in Benelux and Switzerland, including the deployment of freezers, recommending, managing and tracking incremental investments and training and working closely with new distributors.
  • Brand Connector: be the SPOC between BDTs (Snacks and Old El Paso) and GEMs clusters. Attend BDTs forums (PMR, Brand Alliance and MATxBDT) and represent GEMs cluster to ensure BDTs consider GEMs markets' need in the plans (Brand Management, Innovation, PPA and HMM and BX). Lead Geo Expansion efforts (driving market prioritization and supporting clusters defining best Brand Plans: portfolio, pricing, promotional, in store, shopper). Key markets in scope: Snacks: Mexico, MEA, SEA, Korea, Benelux and Switzerland; OEP: Nordics, Switzerland, Italy, Japan, Germany and Poland.

What you will bring to the team

Key Capabilities

  • 10+ years of FMCG marketing experience, including experience in Northern European markets
  • Experience working with distributors is desirable
  • Commercial mindset
  • Strong experience in managing NPD launches and creating strong marketing and activation plans
  • Team management experience
  • Experience in managing media budgets, planning and the ability to work collaboratively with agency partners. E-commerce experience is an advantage
  • An analytic, ROI-driven mindset
  • Ability to work collaboratively across cultures and functions
  • Strong communication and presentation skills
