Head of Marketing (11-month maternity cover)

This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.

Summary

This is an incredibly exciting opportunity for an experienced Head of Marketing that wants to jump in at the deep-end and join our team just ahead of Climate Week NYC, the biggest annual climate event of its kind. Climate Week NYC will be your main focus in the first months, but after that you'll lead an incredibly talented team to help drive our digital marketing, our online and membership engagement, and our digital influencing and campaigning to help grow our organisation's international profile and our income, all with the goal of driving climate action, fast.

This a full-time, fixed-term maternity cover contract starting at the end of July until June 2025.

About Climate Group

Climate Group is an international organisation, and we want to reflect that in our staff. People who work for us, and people who apply, need to feel heard, safe, and included. That is why we are committed to equity, diversity and inclusion throughout our application process and in our offices. We welcome applicants that are diverse in terms of age, gender identity, sexual orientation, physical or mental ability, ethnicity and perspective.

Climate Group drives climate action. Fast. Our goal is a world of net zero carbon emissions by 2050, with greater prosperity for all.

We focus on systems with the highest emissions and where our networks have the greatest opportunity to drive change. We do this by building large and influential networks and holding organisations accountable, turning their commitments into action.

We share what we achieve together to show more organisations what they could do. We are an international non-profit organisation, founded in 2004, with offices in London, Amsterdam, Beijing, New Delhi and New York.

About the role

Our organisation is moving fast, and so will this role. One day you'll be working on the marketing and sponsorship deliverables around Climate Week NYC or one of our other flagship events, the next you'll be discussing (and implementing) a strategy for our online campaigns and our profile, signing off a video-script or working on the engagement with our incredible network of members.

In this role, you'll play a critical part in achieving our goal to be an inspiring climate influencer of business and politics. This is a leadership role within the international communications team and the wider organisation, requiring a strategic thinker with senior experience across the full range of marketing disciplines - from campaigning and stakeholder relations to brand and digital, particularly around flagship events. You'll manage a team of (currently) five people, and you'll be overseeing our external support for design, web, and video.

Together, we work on the biggest issue of our time: fighting climate change.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Strengthening our multi-year ambitious marketing strategy, maximising our brand, impact, influence and income.
  • Lead the marketing around our flagship events to strengthen the profile, impact and sponsorship income of our organisation and our events.
  • The pinnacle will be project managing and delivering on the marketing around Climate Week NYC in September 2024.
  • Further evolve our membership work, including through marketing support of new programmes and products that can generate income and/or grow our networks.
  • Continue to grow the impact of our Marketing Team and drive the delivery of marketing opportunities across the organisation.
  • Have a clear vision on the positioning of our work, partnerships and funding bids externally with the right audiences.
  • Be a strategic, leading voice in the strengthening of our external profile as go-to international influencer of relevant action takers and decision makers.
  • Building our digital influencing/advocacy capacity to support our influencing work, and increase impact of our government and policy work.

About you

We value strengths and the desire to learn - if you meet the majority of the criteria listed below, please apply.

  • Experience in leading and driving a hands-on Marketing team.
  • Deep insights in the full breadth of the (data-led) marketing toolkit
  • Strategic mindset

  • Innovative in nature, always looking for ways to improve outputs and processes
