JOB PURPOSE

A key member of the busy communications team and wider marketing and business development team, the successful candidate will play an important role in developing and implementing the firm's external communications and media relations strategy. You will need to demonstrate the ability to manage a complex and challenging workload while proactively delivering exceptional results, working closely with senior colleagues across various practice areas and sector groups to ensure that the firm's communications activities are effectively managed.

CORE TASKS

  • Support the delivery of a proactive external communications programme for Brodies and its practice areas/sector groups in line with the firm's strategic objectives.
  • Produce accurate, compelling copy for print, social media and digital platforms, including podcasts that effectively communicates the firm's achievements and conveys complex legal information in an accessible manner.
  • Work proactively to identify current opportunities and article commissions on behalf of partners / lawyers / senior management firmwide.
  • Support the firm's social media activity by identifying and producing engaging content.
  • Work with our digital colleagues to analyse online metrics and use that information to guide content creation.
  • Work with our digital colleagues to provide guidance and training across all offices on best practice for social media / blogging.
  • Act as a media contact, fielding enquiries from journalists and providing information about the firm.
  • Develop and maintain relationships with contacts in the national and trade media to establish new platforms and opportunities to communicate our firm's expertise and client first approach.
  • Help to expand the reach of the Brodies brand and develop affinity with new audiences in order to drive new business.
  • Assist to coordinate and review legal directory and award submissions.
  • Be aware of Brodies' information security policies, and protecting information assets from unauthorised access, disclosure, modification, destruction or interference at all times.

PERSON SPECIFICATION

  • This is an attractive opportunity for those with experience in corporate and B2B PR, media relations and corporate communications. In addition to proven experience in the above areas of responsibility we seek:
  • a minimum of three years' relevant experience in corporate communications, either in-house or agency, or journalism;
  • excellent writing skills and scrupulous attention to detail;
  • strong knowledge of UK media, including broadcast and trade / sector publications;
  • an interest in current affairs and an understanding of the current big issues for the legal and wider business sectors;
  • experience of digital communications and of implementing successful online campaigns; and
  • a proactive approach, creativity, tenacity and energy.
