Job overview
You will be an experienced HR Generalist with comprehensive and up to date knowledge of employment law and its practical application.
You will provide highly specialist advice on a broad range of complex employment issues to the Board of Directors in order to minimize risk and financial exposure for the Company.
You will be responsible for a wide range of major organisational change programmes requiring project planning skills; such as restructuring of services, potential redundancy situations and TUPE (Transfer of Undertaking Protection of Employment) transfers in and out of the organisation.
You will lead on the communication strategies for the above including consultation and negotiation with Trade Unions at local and regional level on complex and sensitive workforce issues.
Operating as an advocate of the Company values, you will champion best practice HR management, influencing key business decisions whilst understanding the business strategy and plans of each discrete service and ensuring compatibility with the Acute Trust.
Main duties of the job
Provide dedicated senior HR direction to the Company to support the achievement of service delivery objectives.
Understand the business strategy and plans of each discrete service and deliver the workforce agenda for that area at the same time as ensuring compatibility with the Acute Trust wide approach.
Develop HR-based solutions to meet the Company's needs including performance management against a range of working metrics, targets and KPIs.
Provide highly specialist advice on a broad range of complex employment issues to the Board of Directors in order to minimize risk and financial exposure for the Company.

Responsible for the management of employee engagement connected with organisational change projects ensuring the correct process is adhered to, that timescales are suitable and appropriate and that staff partners and staff members involved are informed and updated in relation to the process.
Person specification
QUALIFICATIONS
Essential criteria
- Educated to post graduate degree level in a HR related field or able to demonstrate appropriate equivalent experience to Master level.
- CIPD (Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development) qualified in human resource management or equivalent HR qualification.
- Ability to demonstrate completion of leadership courses and have relevant experience working at a senior level providing HR advice
Desirable criteria
- Advanced Microsoft Office qualification in Excel / Access
EXPERIENCE
Essential criteria
- Significant experience in a senior HR role in a large diverse organisation including experience of HR Service delivery and performance management
- Experience of working in a highly unionised environment.
- Experience of contributing to strategy development.
- Experience of delivering coaching / training to managers, presentation delivery.
- Significant experience / knowledge of employment law and its application in employment practice Experience of leading the management of change
- Experience of negotiating policy development / T&C's with trade union reps, full time officers etc. Demonstrable evidence of continuous development.
- Able to build credibility quickly and to work with all grades of staff within the Company and the Trust.
Desirable criteria
- Experience of large scale project management.
- Clear understanding of the major issues affecting the NHS HR agenda.
- Knowledge of NHS terms and Conditions of Service
- Experience of identification and management of workforce efficiencies.
- Experience / demonstrable knowledge of the NHS Health & Wellbeing Agenda.
- Experience / demonstrable knowledge of the Workforce Equality and Diversity Agenda
TRAINING
Essential criteria
- Evidence of IT training / short courses / demonstrable experience
- Willingness to undertake any further training/ development as identified in annual appraisal
