We have an amazing opportunity for a Head of Housekeeping to join our team at our Ivetsey Bank Hospital in Wheaton Aston, Stafford. As the Head of Housekeeping you will lead the Housekeeping Team and be responsible for the supervision of all areas of housekeeping in a 'hands-on' capacity ensuring a high standard is achieved and maintained.

Our Ivetsey Bank Hospital is a Tier 4 Child and Adolescent Mental Health (CAMHS) hospital for young people aged 12-18. We specialise in supporting young people with severe or complex mental health conditions who need intensive inpatient treatment. We are dedicated to providing caring, supportive, recovery-focused treatment and we achieve this by working together with our young people, their families and other professionals. Our facilities include, Ofsted registered on-site school, High intensity suite, Occupational therapy kitchen, Gym, Outdoor sports area, including a basketball court, Three cabins for therapy, keep fit and a multi-faith cabin.

What you'll be working:

  • 37.5 hours per week
  • 8am-4pm Monday to Friday

What you'll be doing:

The Head of Housekeeping will lead, coordinate and monitor work activities of cleaning personnel to ensure that as a team we are providing a clean, orderly and attractive environment for young people and staff. As Head of Housekeeping, you will assign duties accordingly while inspecting all aspects to make sure everything meets ACG standards while monitoring young people's satisfaction. The Head of Housekeeping will be responsible for monitoring goals, timelines and deliverables. Coordinating team efforts and ensuring that objectives and actions are completed on time and to the highest quality.

To be successful in this role, you should have good understanding of sanitation regulations, team management abilities and to work alongside your team carrying out periodic cleaning duties.

Planning & Coordination

  • Understand the key objectives and deliverables in collaboration with Head of Support Services
  • Overseeing staff performance on a daily basis
  • Checking areas around the hospital including stairways, communal areas for cleanliness
  • Maintain detailed plans, including actions, owners and timelines.
  • Schedule rotas and arrange cover in cases of absence
  • Monitor and replenish cleaning products stock including floor cleaner, bleach and rubber gloves, bed linen, and towels.
  • Ensuring weekly cleanliness audits and monthly mattress audits are undertaken and where necessary action plans put in place to address any issues arising from the audits.
  • Ensure correct usage, storage and care of cleaning products and equipment, adhering to COSHH procedures

Team Management:

  • Manage a team of Housekeepers, providing direction, motivation, and support to ensure a cohesive and successful team.
  • Delegate and monitor tasks and responsibilities to team members, ensuring deadlines and quality standards are met.
  • Identify and communicate any potential conflicts or issues that may arise.
  • Conduct supervisions & appraisals that are timely and constructive.
  • Handles discipline as needed and in accordance with company policy

Communication & Reporting:

  • Serve as the main point of contact for suppliers, providing regular updates on status, risks, and changes.
  • Organise and lead meetings, preparing and distributing meeting minutes and action items.
  • Prepare detailed reports for senior management as needed.

Risk Management & Problem Solving:

  • Identify key risks and potential solutions to address potential issues.
  • Monitor and manage timelines, ensuring deadlines are met and deliverables are completed on time.

Quality Assurance & Continuous Improvement:

  • Ensure that deliverables meet required standards and quality expectations.

Ensure compliance with safety and Infection Control Policies in all areas.

What you'll have:

  • Work experience as a Housekeeping Supervisor or similar role
  • Hands-on experience with cleaning and maintenance tasks for a large establishment
  • Experience working with teams.
  • Experience of handling conflicting priorities and expectations to ensure successful outcomes.
  • Good organisational and planning skills.
  • Strong team player with the ability to influence and manage effectively.
  • Good communication, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to solve problems and make decisions under pressure.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to work independently.
  • Always adopt a professional approach to young people in our care
  • A requirement to develop and maintain good working relationships with colleagues, visitors, carers, embers of the multi-disciplinary teams, and professionals and managerial staff.
