Job purpose:

This role will drive risk management in all forms (Health & Safety, Cyber, Anti-Money Laundering, Digital etc) across the Bruntwood portfolio (over 100 buildings across the UK), leading an operational team who will deliver compliance in all our retail, scientific, operational and construction development workplaces, mitigating risk as required. We have a governance cycle already in place, therefore it's the implementation of this across the complex organisation structure which is crucial, collaborating closely with both internal and external stakeholders across.

What we're looking for:

  • It's important to have a Property/Construction background. Property is at the core of what we do, so the ability to interpret, challenge when necessary and support the Health & Safety team is crucial.
  • Ability to navigate complex stakeholder structures (Bruntwood collaborates and partners with multiple public and private sector businesses), making sure all parties are regularly informed and there's confidence and clarity.
  • Ability to deliver/implement a governance framework across all forms of risk management, of course we're not expecting your experience to cover all areas Corporate Risk, however an understanding of how to identify risk and navigate this from a holistic perspective is important.
  • You'll predominantly be based at our Union office , however you'll have a willingness to travel to our different assets across the North West and Midlands when necessary.
  • Ideally you'll be a member of IRM or be keen to join (we'd cover the membership fees)

What you'll be doing:

  • To implement and evolve the Health, Safety and Risk Strategy with alignment to overall business strategy.
  • Line management responsibility for members of the health, safety and risk team, including support for personal development, agreeing/setting individual objectives and managing performance.
  • Assess effectiveness of internal audit process in line with expectations for ISO45001.
  • Manage the company strategy and management plan to ensure Bruntwood meets its legislative
  • requirements for compliance and Health and Safety including GDPR
  • Lead the Corporate Risk Steering Group and maintain the risk register
  • Uphold strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders, including shareholders and risk counterparts
  • Ensure there are appropriate policies, working arrangements and systems in place to ensure we are ahead of best practice requirements
  • Provide regular updates, guidance and advice on changes to legislation and sector good practise guidelines to the appropriate channels
  • Lead an external annual review of the H&S policy and management framework
  • Continual development of our CDM-A/PD procedure and balancing in-house resource and external consultants to ensure construction risk is mitigated appropriately
  • Lead up to date business continuity and emergency plans
