- Lead the team to optimise performance, innovate, and maintain a culture of continuous development where providing great customer outcomes is the priority

About the role
We're looking for a strategic, commercially minded pricing leader to take on a critical role at the heart of NFU Mutual's General Insurance business. Our current Head of Pricing is heading into retirement with the perfect combination of strong pricing knowledge and a passion for people - these are big shoes to fill. This is a rare opportunity to lead a high-performing function and shape the long-term direction of pricing across a growing and evolving portfolio.
As we continue our transformation journey - expanding into new markets, growing our commercial portfolio, and supporting UK farmers through diversification - pricing plays a central role in enabling our ambitions. You'll be joining an innovative, forward-thinking team that's embracing automation, machine learning, enhanced analytics and modern decision tools. As we continue to evolve our digital and data capabilities, there's real scope to influence pricing strategy, commercial strategy and customer outcomes.
At NFU Mutual, customer service extends across every part of the business. Pricing has a direct impact on the customer journey, and in this role, you'll embed a culture focused on customer experience, innovation and continuous improvement. You'll also play a key part in ensuring pricing supports the delivery of our Group strategy, guiding principles and long-term market position.
As Head of Pricing, you'll lead strategy and delivery across personal and commercial lines, ensuring pricing remains fair, competitive and commercially effective. You'll oversee the infrastructure - from data and systems to performance and people - and ensure it evolves in line with regulation and business priorities.
Reporting to the Customer Services Director and part of the Customer Services Executive team, you'll influence the wider General Insurance business and support business-critical programmes, service delivery and financial performance. You'll build strong relationships with internal stakeholders, strategic partners and suppliers to ensure the effective delivery of pricing outcomes.
NFU Mutual is proudly different - a mutual insurer with enviable customer loyalty, long-term thinking, and a commitment to fair, member-first pricing. We're looking for someone who shares those values, but who can balance them with a commercial mindset - using pricing as a strategic lever to deliver growth, efficiency and competitiveness in a fast-paced, highly technical environment, while always putting customers first.
About you
We're seeking a senior leader with experience operating at Director level - someone who brings strong commercial acumen and is ready to drive progress, lead from the front, and influence the future of pricing at NFU Mutual. You'll be confident stepping into a role with autonomy from day one and have a strong customer focus, instinctively balancing commercial delivery with fair pricing outcomes. With experience operating in regulated environments, you'll bring a deep understanding of insurance market dynamics and governance, including active participation in boards and executive-level committees. You'll be a collaborative and visionary leader, with a proven ability to embed best practice and shape high-performing, future-ready pricing teams.
To succeed in this role, you'll bring:
- Extensive pricing expertise, with deep knowledge of pricing principles, methodologies and governance - and a strong track record across commercial lines.
- Advanced analytical and financial modelling skills, enabling data-led insight and informed decision-making that supports both performance and customer value.
- Strategic and commercial thinking, with experience developing and delivering pricing strategies aligned to long-term business goals and market conditions.
- Strong market awareness, including the ability to analyse competitor activity, pricing trends and customer behaviour to identify opportunity and mitigate risk.
- Leadership of change and innovation, with experience modernising pricing functions and embedding new capabilities such as automation, machine learning or enhanced analytics.
- Effective cross-functional collaboration, with a history of influencing and partnering with functions such as Underwriting, Propositions, Risk, and Data to deliver integrated pricing outcomes.
- High-impact people leadership, with a passion for developing talent, building inclusive, high-performing teams, and fostering a culture of innovation and continuous improvement.
- Regulatory expertise, including a clear understanding of insurance regulation, Consumer Duty, value for money, and prior experience operating under the Certification Regime.
We recognise that some candidates may experience barriers during the recruitment process. So, we encourage candidates to discuss any adjustments or accommodations they need to be the best they can be throughout our recruitment process.
We're proud to be a Disability Confident Employer, a Race at Work and Women in Finance Charter signatory and welcome applications from people of all backgrounds, regardless of age, ethnicity, disability, neurodiversity, gender, religion, marital status, sexual orientation, or socioeconomic background.
