Hybrid: This role will be required to have 2 days per week onsite in our Leeds/Wakefield office.

What we are looking for:
Candidates who have done similar roles within the technology, telecoms, or managed services sector. Familiarity with tax compliance processes and working with external tax advisors would also be beneficial.

About the role:
The Head of Financial Reporting is responsible for the accurate, timely, and insightful production of Nasstar's monthly and annual financial reporting.
This role leads a team of revenue, gross profit, and SG&A specialists who analyse trends, investigate variances, and ensure the integrity of the company's financial results.

The role is pivotal in delivering high-quality internal reporting that supports strategic decision-making and financial control across the business.

The role also works closely with the FP&A and Commercial Finance teams to ensure consistency in reporting, alignment of financial narratives, and a deeper understanding of business performance drivers.

In addition, the role is responsible for liaising with external tax advisors to ensure accurate tax reporting and compliance with all relevant tax obligations

Key Responsibilities

Daily & Month Responsibilities

Financial Reporting
• Lead the preparation and delivery of monthly management accounts and annual statutory reporting.
• Ensure all key P&L and balance sheet items are reconciled and substantiated each month.
• Own the month-end close timetable and ensure deadlines are consistently met.

Trend Analysis & Insight
• Oversee revenue and gross profit analysis, highlighting key drivers and variances.
• Lead SG&A reporting, ensuring cost centres are accurately tracked and explained.
• Provide clear commentary and actionable insights to senior stakeholders.

Controls & Reconciliations• Ensure robust reconciliations are in place for all material balance sheet and P&L accounts.
• Maintain a strong control environment and support audit readiness throughout the year.
• Drive continuous improvement in reporting accuracy and process efficiency.

Cross-Functional Collaboration
• Partner with FP&A to ensure alignment between actuals and forecasts, and to support planning cycles.
• Collaborate with Commercial Finance to ensure consistency in revenue and margin reporting and to support business unit performance reviews.
• Contribute to the development of a unified financial narrative across all finance functions.

Tax Compliance
• Act as the primary liaison with external tax advisors to ensure accurate and timely tax reporting.
• Support the preparation of tax packs and ensure alignment between internal reporting and tax submissions.
• Monitor changes in tax legislation and assess their impact on financial reporting.

Team Leadership• Manage and develop a team of internal reporting analysts with specialisms in revenue, gross margin, and SG&A.
• Foster a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
• Support cross-functional collaboration with FP&A, commercial finance, and operational teams.

Systems & Process Improvement
• Champion automation and standardisation of reporting processes.
• Work with IT and transformation teams to enhance reporting tools and data integrity.
• Ensure alignment with group-wide reporting standards and policies.

Annual Responsibilities
• Ensure compliance of all accounting standards (UK GAAP & IFRS), internal controls, policies and practices.
• Be the primary contact on the annual audit process, and organise the team to work collaboratively with the Auditors to deliver to the agreed plan

Team
• Manage a team of professionals aligned with the functions and legal entities • Ensure and provide regular individual & team reviews against targets and performance
• Manage, develop, and support team through clear structured objectives (SMART) and MBO's which are aligned to corporate objectives.

Other
• Ensure cover for all responsibilities within the team.
• Responsible for and support any request for information for audit and other external requirements as necessary

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

Essential:
• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA) with significant post-qualification experience.
• Proven experience in financial reporting and control within a complex, multi-entity environment.
• Strong understanding of P&L and balance sheet dynamics, including reconciliations and audit preparation.
• Demonstrated ability to lead and develop high-performing finance teams.
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to present financial information clearly to nonfinance stakeholders.
• Experience working with FP&A and commercial finance teams to align reporting with business performance.
• Experience in the technology, telecoms, or managed services sector.
• Familiarity with tax compliance processes and working with external tax advisors
