Location: GuildfordSalary: Dep on exp + benefits Role Description The purpose of this role is to ensure the delivery of the Finance Operations objectives for the areas of P2P and O2C for which the Head of Finance Operations is responsible. The purpose of this role is to lead the Finance Operations team and to deliver finance operations strategy, objectives and Key Performance Indicators (KPIs). The role holder is responsible for the development and implementation of the overall operational management strategy including technology, people and processes. This is achieved by providing effective strategic operational direction, governance and oversight. This will include building and maintaining excellent internal and external stakeholder relationships.
Key Responsibilities
- Develops and maintains strong relationships with both internal and external customers, ensuring feedback is sought and acted upon to continually improve the service provided
- Ensures the right subject matter experts are in place and attached to projects so they can provide input and challenge on changes that will have an impact on Finance Operations
- Ensures an effective Control Framework in place, takes ownership of any issues and gets them resolved
- Motivates and leads their teams to deliver outstanding performance in particular by reviewing processes & procedures to minimise errors and improve efficiency as well as ensuring the teams understand how they affect the wider business
- Identifies and manages talent within their area, ensuring future needs are anticipated and succession plans are in place
- Working with Finance Transformation to drive continuous improvement and automation of manual processes as well as contributing to wider Finance transformation initiatives for an improved future target operating model
- Coherently convey your deep industry knowledge to proactively recommend new and innovative solutions tailored to be market leading within Finance Operations
- Bring experience in target operating model and process design & development by using strong quantitative and qualitative skills to identify complex problems, consider them analytically and conceptualise solutions
Essential Skills
- Qualified accountant with substantial post qualification experience
- Ability to run larger teams (including offshore resources) and work virtually
- Self-motivated with excellent project and time management skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Competent problem resolution, troubleshooting and analytical skills
- Able to build relationships with a varied range of stakeholders
Desirable Skills
- Excellent knowledge of operational best practice and the ability to apply this in their role
- Up-to-date knowledge and understanding of all relevant Compliance and Regulatory rules and procedures
- The ability to interpret and analyse complex data and financial information, and using this to make informed decisions
- Excellent working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and good knowledge of other Office applications
Qualifications
- Qualified Accountant (ACCA, CIMA, ACA)
Experience
- Proven experience of leading larger teams ideally within the insurance industry
- Track record of leading teams through change and developing and implementing strategy and process change
- Experience in a leadership role
- Experience in working with Shared Service teams
- Achieving challenging targets and KPIs in a high pressure environment
- Experience of delivering changes to team structures, systems or processes
