We have created an exciting, brand new opportunity for a Head of Facilities & Central Operations to join us.

About your role

As Head of Facilities & Central Operations you will lead a multi functional team to deliver a centralised operational and facilities management service, supporting our Customer Operations team to provide a best in class service across the Pegasus Homes portfolio which comprises residential block, rental and build to rent properties for later living.

Our Customer Operations Central team consists of Operations Managers, a Procurement function, Health & Safety Manager and Administration support and you will ensure that the necessary infrastructure and support is in place to achieve and maintain high standards across all areas of building and facilities management.

Your team will support the whole of the Customer Operations business and you will work particularly closely with the Estates & Community Directors who, with their teams of Building and Community Managers and site staff provide the customer facing services and are ultimately responsible for compliance, site standards, budgets and customer engagement.

Some of your key responsibilities will include

  • Develop and implement a building operations and facilities management strategy for the portfolio which is aligned to the Pegasus Homes Group objectives.
  • Oversee, coach and manage the team ensuring that roles are carried out professionally and to the required standard and that delivering an excellent customer journey is embedded into the work process at every stage
  • Develop and implement an effective strategy for procurement of hard and soft services across the portfolio including contract negotiations and performance management.
  • Take a lead role in establishing a strong health & safety culture across the team achieving compliance with statutory obligations and industry best practice in terms of health & safety
  • Oversee, using your own technical understanding, the operation of heat networks across the portfolio, to achieve efficiency and reliability
  • Coordinate reactive, agreed planned maintenance and operational activities ensuring optimal functionality, performance against KPIs and highest standards of health and safety delivery across the portfolio
  • Oversee the delivery of general administrative support to the Customer Operations business including Group Estates Director
  • Work with colleagues and stakeholders throughout the development process to inform commercially viable and operationally efficient design, and to effectively mobilise the operational management services on new developments to ensure sites are ready on time
  • To be aware of legislation changes and, with colleagues, review, create and implement operational policies and procedures in order to achieve and maintain full regulatory compliance and best practice standards
  • This role will involve frequent visits to our sites across the UK
  • You will be required to be part of an out of hours rota including over the Christmas period to monitor and direct the out of hours management services as necessary and deal with escalations
  • There may be a need for work to be done outside of normal working hours, which may include nights away from home and occasional weekends
  • You may occasionally be required to provide support to other areas to help cover absences.

About you

You will have extensive and strategic operational experience, working at a senior level within a multi-site facilities management environment, preferably within the residential sector.

A strong technical knowledge of building and asset management including plant, fabric and soft services is essential and you'll have experience of delivering detailed tenders and complex contract negotiations. You'll be self-motivated and pro-active with a proven track record of delivery within a fast paced, rapidly changing environment.

Qualifications

    • Educated to degree level or equivalent and experienced in Facilities/Operation Management, Project Management, Asset Management or other relevant subject
    • MRICS or BIFM qualified and have also completed IOSH or NEBOSH or equivalent
    • A full driving license is essential

Skills & knowledge

    • Exceptional leadership skills with a proven ability to manage and motivate a diverse team
    • Excellent project management skills with a successful track record in overseeing the creation and delivery of planned maintenance and major/capital works
    • Detailed knowledge of health & safety regulations, building standards and sustainability practices and be able to demonstrate its application in practice.
    • Strong communication, both written and verbal, and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
    • Experience in interpreting and analysing data, preparing reports and plans (financial reporting, budgeting, works scheduling, workload allocation, performance planning).
    • Ability to develop and implement policies, procedures, researching where required and demonstrating a working knowledge of relevant Landlord and Tenant Acts, RICS and ARMA guidelines, regulations and procedures, keeping informed of any updates, changes and best practice
