Job overview
Professionally accountable for all aspects of Facilities Management Services for Calderdale and Huddersfield Solutions Ltd, including soft FM and general maintenance services. Responsible for ensuring the provision of a safe, clean and supportive environment for patients is maintained in accordance with any statutory or mandatory requirements.
Responsible for ensuring all associated policy and procedures are developed, reviewed and implemented as required

The Trust itself is currently reconfiguring its services, supported by £196.5m of capital funding from the Department of Health and Social Care to invest in local health services at both Calderdale Royal Hospital (CRH) and Huddersfield Royal Infirmary (HRI). This is a significant investment and an opportunity to enhance services for our populations in Calderdale, Huddersfield and West Yorkshire for generations to come.
Main duties of the job
- Support and assist the Managing Director Calderdale and Huddersfield Solutions Ltd with the development and implementation of medium and long term Estate and Facilities Strategies.
- Ensure a continuous improvement culture is developed and propose improvement strategies to enhance value and patient experience.
- Development and implementation of short, medium and long term operational policy and strategy in accordance with current and future proposed statutory, regulatory and NHS guidance.
- Provide professional and technical advice for the development and implementation of new service proposals.
- Responsible for the delivery of all facilities services including in-house and contracted services ensuring the delivery of quality and value driven services.
- Responsible for the delivery of Switchboard, General Office, Car Park and Cash management services
- Responsible for managing all facilities services risk related elements including, Infection Prevention and Control, Hazardous Waste Management, Transportation of Dangerous Goods, Food Safety Management, Health and Safety, COSHH and governance. Responsible for managing appropriately qualified staff that are appointed as authorised and competent persons as defined in the associated HTM or regulatory framework.
- Responsible for the management of all facilities services related contracts and service level agreements.

Person specification
Educated to Master's Degree level, in an associated Facilities Management field
Essential criteria
- Educated to Master's Degree level, in an associated Facilities Management field
- Proven ability to lead and manage complex, staff intensive, multi-site operations.
- Experience of facilitating partnership working, decision making and conflict resolution with staff at all level and trade union representatives at local and regional level.
- Excellent interpersonal and relationship building skills along with a proven track record in professionalism when communicating with people with strong opposing views.
- Excellent ability to communicate effectively in writing and face-toface.
SPECIAL KNOWLEDGE / EXPERTISE
Essential criteria
- Detailed and advanced knowledge and understanding of all aspects relating to the provision of facilities services, with particular knowledge of the regulatory and Duty of Care requirements relating to Health & Safety, decontamination, clean hospitals, environment and waste management.
- Proven excellent organisational and managerial skills, ability to prioritise and organise own and departmental workloads Ability to produce detailed contractual documentation and service specifications in relation to the procurement of facilities services in the NHS environment.
- Proven ability to develop Facilities Management strategy and policy.
- Proven ability to produce detailed reports and Business Cases to Board level relating to facilities service provision
PRACTICAL / INTELLECTUAL SKILLS.

You may be required to undertake a DBS. The Trust will administer the DBS check on your behalf and will recover the cost (Enhanced £54.40, Standard £26.40 or Basic £26.40) from your salary when you commence in post (including Internal staff). For Enhanced and Standard DBS checks you will also be required to participate in the DBS Update Service and pay the £16 cost per year. This is a condition of your employment.
