Position

We are looking for an exceptional leader to head up our Manchester-based Sight Loss Support Team. This is a key role shaping and delivering services that make a tangible difference every day to people with sight loss, their families and carers.

Our team provides advice, emotional support, skills training and access to life-changing resources. Last year, across Greater Manchester and Merseyside, we welcomed over 1,100 new service users and worked with 3,715 individuals, delivering almost 29,000 interactions. From specialist counselling to digital skills support, we help people understand their eye condition, access aids and equipment, and gain the confidence to live more independently.

As Head of Enablement, you will lead a skilled, multidisciplinary team, set the vision for our services, ensure they meet the highest standards, and build strong partnerships with commissioners, funders and community organisations. You will also manage budgets, secure new opportunities, and represent Henshaws at local and national levels.

  • Salary: £21.02 per hour/£40,442.48 per annum
  • Hours per week: 37
  • Weeks per year: 52
  • Contract: Permanent
  • Annual leave : 5 weeks plus 10 days bank holiday
  • Location: Manchester with regular travel across Greater Manchester and the wider region. Hybrid working is available.
  • Closing Date: Tuesday 2nd September - 12noon.

Requirements

You will bring:

  • Proven experience of leading and motivating multidisciplinary teams across multiple locations
  • Strong financial management and service delivery expertise
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, commissioners, partners and funders
  • A track record of developing services, securing contracts, or building impactful partnerships in health, social care or the voluntary sector
  • Commitment to equality, inclusion, and the aims and mission of Henshaws

It would be great if you also have:

  • Experience of delivering NHS or local authority-commissioned services
  • Knowledge of health and social care funding streams
  • Experience of developing digital or online support services

This role requires an Enhanced DBS check (child and adult barring lists) and the ability to travel across the region.
