Job Description
About the Role
The role sits within the Tax team and leads the direct tax and tax transformation agenda including Direct Tax compliance and Reporting, Transfer Pricing, Risk Management, Legislative Change, Tax Process Improvement, Automation and Business Partnering. The role is part of the broader finance leadership group and leads the direct tax and reporting and transformation team, acting as a deputy to the director of tax and includes overseeing the end-to-end direct tax, reporting, tax audit and transfer pricing agenda. The role also works closely with the broader tax and customs team, finance and technology teams to help transform our tax processes and function to ensure compliance and minimise time spent on manual process work. The role also works with the wider business to ensure any initiatives are appropriately considered from a direct tax and transfer pricing perspective and implemented successfully.
What You'll be Doing
- Work with advisors to oversee the team across tax compliance processes and transfer pricing.
- Ensure accurate end to end accounting and reporting, accurate balance sheet reconciliations and data integrity of information and prepare tax papers and forecasts for the CFO and Audit Committee
- Work with the business to understand and support any business initiatives and associated change impacts from requirements through to successful implementation to ensure compliance and accurate reporting including providing technical advice and working closely with advisors to add value to the business
- Identify potential tax risks and cash savings opportunities, and lead initiative(s) to manage the risks or realise the opportunities
- Support the team in dealing with communication and queries from HMRC, other tax authorities and ASOS's external auditors
- Lead initiatives and projects to ensure effective delivery of tax transformation internal to the function, as well as part of wider business change transformation/changes
- Deliver solutions to improve ability to meet reporting obligations (including pillar 2 and DAC 7) and empower staff to make better business decisions
- Drive engagement and development across the tax function of how to enact process, data, and system change to improve tax BAU processes including how to make best use of Alteryx, PowerBI and SQL
- Part of the finance leadership group and acts as a deputy to the Director of Tax in the strategy setting and overall leadership of the wide tax and customs team

Qualifications
Who We'd Like to Meet
- A tax accounting qualification (preferably CTA or ACA)
- Substantial experience of UK Direct Tax (including R&D), Tax Reporting, and good awareness of transfer pricing and international tax
- Business partnering experience
- Substantial financial accounting and reporting experience
- Experience of leading tax transformation and process improvement initiatives
- Experience of working closely with Tech delivery teams as well as Tax/Finance/relevant business stakeholders
- Experience of leading a team and delivering through others
- A proven ability to plan and prioritise own workload to meet tight deadlines
- A high standard of accuracy with financial data
- An ability to determine insightful observations from detail for management attention
- Commercial awareness
- Good leadership skills, delivery focus and gravitas to project positive energetic attitude and resolve disputes and challenges while exhibiting influencing and interpersonal skills
- A high degree of project planning, organisational skills, presentation & communication skills, alongside systems & process improvement experience
- Self-motivated, proactive, enthusiastic and results-focus
- Flexible, adaptable and comfortable with ambiguity - a can-do attitude
- Experience of Alteryx, SQL and PowerPlatform Tools would be an advantage
