The College is seeking to appoint anenthusiastic and proactive individual to lead the Computing Department. The department currently offers both the BTEC level 3Extended Diploma in Computing and BTEC level 2 in ICT.

Atpresent, funding is available for both courses, and we are working closely withthe DfE in support of upcoming curriculum changes and potential suitablecourses.

This role will involve ensuring the provision of an appropriately broad, balanced, relevantand differentiated curriculum for students studying Computing, in accordancewith the aims of the College and the curricular policies determined by theGoverning Body and Principal of the College.

You will actas Head of Department and lead curriculum design and implementation across thedepartment, including effective implementation of consistent internal andexternal assessments in line with awarding body specifications. You will beresponsible for monitoring and supporting the progress and achievement ofstudents across the department, implementing interventions where appropriateand liaising with pastoral teams where necessary. You will be responsible foranalysing and evaluating student outcomes, disseminating good practice andidentifying and addressing areas for improvement.

The post may requireteaching across other subjects within the faculty, which may include A LevelComputer Science and/or BTEC IT.

Thesuccessful candidate will fully participate in the College's quality assuranceprocesses as well as managing the work of teaching personnel in the department,including timetabling and performance management duties. Furthermore, you willensure the recruitment and deployment of teaching staff and the deployment ofthe financial and physical resources to support the department and in line withSafer Recruitment policies.
