Head of Department of Chemistry
This job is brought to you by Jobs/Redefined, the UK's leading over-50s age inclusive jobs board.
The Department of Chemistry aims to be an international centre of excellence that transcends the boundaries of chemistry, to explore new frontiers at discipline interfaces, and to provide fundamental solutions for a sustainable and healthy society.
The strategy enshrines the rigour of the discipline in a progressive interdisciplinary context, designed to produce a new generation of scientists fluent across traditional subject boundaries. The cross-fertilisation of physical, biological and engineering sciences enables our graduates to harness the transformative power of chemistry and tackle emerging challenges in modern society and medicine.
As one of five departments within the Faculty of Natural, Mathematical & Engineering Sciences (NMES) we are now searching for a Head of Department, during an exciting period of expansion under the King's Interdisciplinary Science investment. We are looking for an inclusive, creative, and visionary leader to work with the wider faculty to continue to develop our reputation as an internationally leading, interdisciplinary department.
We expect you to have an academic reputation in a relevant field, and a genuine passion for education and research. In addition to leading the department, you will play an active role in the senior management of NMES, contribute to the wider strategy, and work closely with the Executive Dean, fellow department heads and vice deans. You will bring drive and leadership experience, and be committed to developing a supportive, inclusive and collaborative culture in an academically young and dynamic department. You will also be excited and committed to developing collaborations across the whole King's community and external partners.
