The role

Exciting opportunity to join a Lloyds Market Syndicate that is on a multiyear Data & Analytics Transformation journey. We are currently laying the foundations of a new cloud data platform that is leveraging a modern lake house architecture with the aim of creating a market leading data function that supports the current and future data needs of a growing Lloyds Syndicate.

We currently operate a hybrid working model. This entails 3 days per week collaborating with colleagues in the London office, and 2 days working from home.

Key responsibilities

  • Reporting to the Chief Data Officer, you will hold a key leadership role within the data function and be a critical member of the team in shaping the data and analytics strategy and have accountability for its execution and the related data outcomes.
  • This role requires you to use a combination of leadership, problem solving, delivery and product management, and deep understanding of technology. You will manage a mix discipline team based in London, Swansea and Offshore Delivery partners and contractors.
  • You will have accountability in head up key aspects of the data function, this includes managing complex data change programs and supporting existing data operations and processes. Thus, you will have strong understanding and experience of all functions, components, and roles within a data practice within a Lloyds insurance Syndicate for both Run and Change.
  • You will help to establish and refine the Data Target Operating model and Analytics centre of excellence. Ensure we set and enforce best practices, standards for delivery methodologies - agile, waterfall, hybrid. Ensuring alignment with our business goals and IQUW's Data Strategy.

Qualifications, skills and experience

  • Experience managing multi-year and multi-million budgets for data and technology deliveries.
  • Excellent understanding of the data lifecycle and data management approaches
  • Strategic thinker with a track record of delivering results in a fast-paced environment, able to apply thought leadership to drive innovation and change.
  • Extensive experience overseeing the full lifecycle delivery of enterprise data platforms, with strong delivery experience in Data / Analytics and BI projects.
  • Experience building and leading functions with both internal and external resources (Including Offshore Teams).
  • Skilled in presenting and producing compelling slides and narratives to support strategies and approaches.
  • Strong experience working on and building out data warehouses, migrations, and transformations, data science initiatives.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to create strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization to understand business requirements and translate them into actionable BI and data solutions.
  • Comprehensive understanding of all aspects of the typical stack and technologies in enterprise data and analytics functions, including data lakes, databases, ETL, MDM, cubes, reporting, data warehousing, and data quality.
  • Proficient in project governance, including status reporting, planning, estimating, progress tracking with KPIs, budget/financial tracking, and managing risks, assumptions, issues, dependencies, and blockers (RAIDs).
  • Understand data modelling approaches including 3NF, Dimensional Models and key value pairs.
  • Strong understanding of key data concepts and functions related to following areas: Data Warehouses, Data Lakes, Data Science Methods, Cloud, Report/Dashboards, ETL Integration, APIs, Infrastructure, IT Landscape, Data Quality, and Governance.
