The Creative Lab sits within Spotify Advertising, the business unit within Spotify that focuses on connecting brands to billions of fans around the world. Our team is Spotify Advertising's in-house creative agency, responsible for building branded experiences. We collaborate with brands and agencies to inspire, create, and scale creativity with Spotify-first thinking.
We are seeking a seasoned leader to join our dedicated Creative Intelligence team in London, UK, dedicated to inspiring the best ideas centered around Spotify, co-creating and building with our biggest brands, creators, and advertisers today. We are storytellers who are obsessed with how ideas can be brought to life through the superpowers of our platform, and we are looking for someone to lead the team through our next evolution, champion the potential of our products offerings and elevate our work. Our ideal candidate will be inherently curious, obsessed with digital capabilities surrounding pop culture, and deeply motivated to inspire and challenge our creative partners to do the best work of their careers on our platform.
The ideal candidate is first and foremost a visionary storyteller who lives and breathes the intersection of technology and storytelling. They are obsessed with consumer insights, cultural trends, and creative innovation. They are future-minded and always thinking about the next feature or product to build within the innovation pipeline with immersive storytelling for the industry in mind. They are multifaceted in skills: can in one day develop a thought provoking point of view on the future of creativity on our platform; on another, use 1st and 3rd party insights to craft narratives around the potential of our platform to help meet the unique challenges of our agency partners and advertisers, and on yet another, dazzle CCOs and CMOs from our largest brands at an industry conference with future innovations. Along with the head of Creative Lab, they will be responsible for developing thought leadership and learning how technology can amplify brand storytelling to connect more brands to fans on Spotify and beyond.
You will be responsible for building and leading our small and mighty creative intelligence team in the mission to build the world's most inspiring platform for creatives and advertisers. Experience working with global teams across multiple markets is a huge advantage given the cross regional responsibilities. Lead a small team of creative strategists and planners, guiding their growth and skills in building a top-tier creative intelligence team passionate about innovative storytelling.
The ideal candidate will able to inspire people to the mission and work through complex creative and operational problems, to think broadly about the advertising industry dynamics and impact on business and apply them to our positioning, products, programs and offering.
And along the way? They will build a portfolio of work that wins awards and recognition throughout the tech and creative industries to prove that creativity on Spotify is the key to amplifying communications in a complex and crowded IRL and digital landscape.
What You'll Do:
- Inspire and educate internal and external teams on the power of creativity to connect brands to fans on Spotify
- Lead the Creative Intelligence arm of the Creative Lab in developing creative learning agenda across key advertising verticals, products and business lines
- Partner closely with our marketing science and insights team to implement creative testing workstreams and use the data to inform key industry and Creative Lab POV with content, narratives and strategic briefs
- Act as a key senior member of the Global Creative Lab team representing the creative vision internally with senior Spotify leadership and externally at industry events
- Be a Spotify evangelist, inspiring marketers and agencies through creative and advertising marketing workshops, and at industry events
- Work with Head of Creative Lab to lead and create compelling integrated creative narratives & initiatives that drive awareness and demand, from a core target audience of creative and media agencies as well as brand marketers
- Identify, develop and maintain a unique position for Spotify's creative offerings and deliver them in a compelling way to convince partners to explore solutions with us
- Facilitate inspirational workshops with senior level partners to find the right balance of boundary pushing creative expression and brand realities
- Collaborate with Creative Strategy and other departments (Ops, Marketing Science, Insights, MPM etc) to develop creative strategies that will guide the creation of top-tier campaigns on Spotify
- Develop and demonstrate creative thought leadership on industry, advertising, visual and digital culture and trends as input and fodder to inspire internal and external partners
Who You Are:
- A min of 10+ years of experience in creative direction, creative strategy at a platform, media brand or agency
- Someone who is a player coach with experience leading and mentoring a versatile team of creative strategists focused on the art and science of storytelling on our platform
- Curious and obsessive about consumer and cultural trends, the craft of storytelling and weaving technology into user experience to solve macro problems for our clients
- Extremely organized with strong operational skills and the ability to work across time zones and markets
- World class presenter with an ability to tell stories about creative work through the lens of culture for Spotify
- A quick problem solver who can collaborate well with internal and external partners like contractors and vendors to bring ideas to life
- Experience managing own workflows, e.g. managing budgets, process and ways of working internally and externally
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, matrixed environment and across partners in business marketing, brand, and product teams to build consensus on shared initiatives
- Experience working with senior level partners and clients at agencies and brands
- Expert written and verbal communicator, with the ability to articulate abstract creative concepts and persuade audiences when required
- Deep understanding of integrated marketing development, tech platforms and social media landscape, with experience in digital first production
