Head of Creative - 6 Month FTC

We are looking for someone who will continue the evolution of the Creative Team and the scope of what it can deliver so its reputation as a global creative hub is enhanced and respected. This person should instil innovation and energy while ensuring that the quality of output is consistently excellent. Control Risks has a very busy in-house Creative Team.

In addition to the Head of Creative, there are currently 3 people in this team Creative Manager, Senior Designer and a Mid-Weight Designer. Depending on the requirements for the project and budget allowing, we also bring in freelancers with specialist skills as required Collectively the Creative Team is responsible for creating and designing a range of marketing assets to support campaigns as well as a wide spectrum of marketing activity and internal initiatives.

6 month contract with the possibility to extend.

The purpose of the role is four fold:

1. To provide a high level of brand guardianship whilst continuously fostering creativity and striving for excellence and innovation in a highly competitive sector.

2. To bring a flow of fresh ideas and innovation, thinking how new technologies and skills could enhance the way the team can deliver.

3. To be accountable for the overall output of the team, ensuring that projects are delivered to the highest creative standards and on time and on budget.

4. To manage an individual portfolio of work in addition to the management role, being responsible for complex design projects.

Requirements
What You'll Do:

  • Lead the Creative Team, thinking strategically about how the function needs to operate now and in the future. Consider talent development, resources, technology, processes and innovation etc.
  • Be responsible for directing and delivering projects, from strategic and conceptual stages through to design execution, driving excellence through everything the team does.
  • Work closely with internal stakeholders to discuss and build creative briefs, and work collaboratively.
  • Identify opportunities and present work - ultimately ensuring that they are receiving the high level of service expected and that the work is creating the right impact in the marketplace.
  • Be hands-on delivering your own share of the workload. Create a fun, inspiring and positive culture around the Creative Team, mentoring and developing team members.
  • Contribute as member of the senior leadership team within Marketing and support the wider team in decision making where appropriate.
  • Report frequently and openly on projects, issues and plans.

Who You Are:

  • An established and natural creative leader with a vibrant and strong portfolio of digital campaign work
  • Experience managing a design team - either in-house or agency
  • Experienced in directing complex, commercial creative projects involving senior stakeholders and multi-disciplined teams.
  • Creatively hands on, equally enjoys generating ideas/contributing to the design detail of projects and overseeing/reviewing creative work.
  • A confident and articulate communicator, equally comfortable mentoring staff and presenting creative solutions to clients.
  • Will make a hugely valuable and positive impact on the Creative Team's culture and creative credibility.
  • Being pragmatic and able to work under pressure
  • Able to work collaboratively on a peer to peer basis with the Digital and Content Teams
  • The ability to see other people's point of view and cope with criticism
  • Awareness of, and sensitivity towards, different working practices and cultures

Qualifications and specialist skills:

  • A good understanding of the following:
  • Photoshop
  • Illustrator
  • HTML
  • InDesign
  • MS Office
  • Able to work on a MAC and PC platform
  • Experience of Digital Asset Managers
  • Strong understanding of motion design
  • Filming and animation experience would be preferred
