Head of Corporate Lending

Supporting the business as it moves towards more complex and sophisticated lending, you will be an instrumental part of building a robust lending strategy. As a Senior Mandate holder, you will guide your team to ensure we make good lending decisions.

As our Head of Corporate Lending, we are looking for someone to:

• Lead the Corporate Lending Underwriters (5 Corporate Underwriters/Sanctioners) and the Group Valuations team (3 RICS valuers)
• Work closely with our direct sales team, portfolio relationship management team and broker partners, reviewing and approving loans within discretion and via credit committees sign off
• Lead/chair credit committee, and hold a significant personal mandate - to cover corporate term and bridge loans, development funding loans and customer level aggregate credit limit sign offs
• Manage the valuation panel managers on behalf of the group (VAS, Pure, Method)
• Lead and develop the team, building training and professional development frameworks
• Inform and evolve lending standards, underwriting and valuation policies
• Work closely with the Head of Corporate Operations to enhance and evolve the lending journey
• Support Nexus programme and deployment of the new lending platform (UAT, deployment, day 2 feature design etc)
• Be a part of the senior leadership team within Corporate Credit & Risk team
• Support the wider operational underwriting community focused on our Personal and Commercial (sub £1m unregulated) loan books

Qualifications

Essential

• Extensive experience of holding a significant lending mandate
• Significant property lending experience
• 1st line Credit Risk experience in a specialist lending environment
• Experience of leading an Underwriting team
• Ability to challenge and influence key stakeholders
