Head of Copyright

Join BMG's leadership team and be at the forefront of our copyright and administration operations. We are seeking a talented Head of Copyright to lead and develop our copyright team, ensuring seamless processes and strong partnerships across the industry.

Key Responsibilities.

  • Lead and develop the Copyright team for BMG UK.
  • Establish and report KPIs, improve workflows, and standardise processes with other BMG territories.
  • Maintain and develop relationships with partners including writers, clients, artists, performing rights organizations, sub-publisher partners, and industry organizations.
  • Oversee BMG's UK Copyright team in areas such as song delivery, sample clearance, copyright administration, counterclaims, neighboring rights administration, and sub-publishing network management.
  • Identify areas of potential income growth for client catalogues
  • Oversee the management of any significant client inquiries to ensure timely resolution.
  • Liaise regularly with BMG's UK publishing team in relation to all copyright matters
  • Conduct regular data analysis for BMG UK's finance team related to UK publishing deals and sub-publishing deals.
  • Oversee the active management of sub-publishers and related vendors in non-affiliate territories, including contract negotiations and maintaining knowledge of the copyright landscape.
  • Contribute to strategic initiatives and play an active part in the UK business Senior Leadership Team and the UK Rights and Royalties management team.

Your Profile.

  • Advanced understanding of music publishing and copyright industry practices.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
  • Experience with tracking and collaboration tools (such as Jira).
  • Strong analytic and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong contract interpretation skills.
  • Significant experience of managing people and leading teams.
  • Previous experience working in a publisher, trade organisation, or PRO.
