Qualifications/training and professional development
Essential criteria
- Master's degree in Pharmacy (MPharm or equivalent) and full registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council (GPhC)
- Postgraduate Diploma or MSc in Clinical Pharmacy or Pharmacy practice or equivalent
- Evidence of ongoing professional development including relevant clinical, leadership and management training
Desirable criteria
- Qualified independent prescriber
- Recognised qualification in management, healthcare leadership or similar
Experience
Essential criteria
- Significant experience in Clinical Pharmacy within an acute NHS hospital, demonstrating advanced practice and leadership in Pharmacy services
- Proven track record of managing clinical governance, medicines safety and quality improvement initiatives
- Demonstrable experience in line management and staff development, including appraisals, recruitment and performance management
Desirable criteria
- Extensive experience as a clinical educator or postgraduate tutor
- Experience in research leadership, including initiating and overseeing practice-based research and securing funding
Skills, abilities and knowledge
Essential criteria
- Strong knowledge of clinical pharmacy services in an acute care setting, including medicines management
- Proficient in interpreting and applying NHS policies, clinical guidelines and national standards to practice
- Excellent leadership and management skills, including the ability to motivate, mentor and develop staff across various roles
- Effective strategic planning and problem-solving skills, able to make complex decisions based on clinical and operational data
- High-level communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build relationships and negotiate with senior leaders, medical staff and external partners
Desirable criteria
- Proficiency in digital health technologies, including electronic patient records and pharmacy management systems
