About this Role
Wolverhampton Vocational TrainingCentre is rated "good" by Ofsted and is situated in Wolverhampton. We are a special school for pupils with complex cognitive difficultieswhose age range is 16 to 19 years, who are seeking to appoint a motivated,dedicated and driven Head of Centre.
We are an Academy School,part of the Central Learning Partnership Trust (CLPT). We strive to ensure ourchildren receive an education which inspires and promotes positive learning andensure that rigorous CPD supports all staff in becoming the best they can be.
Core Responsibilities
- To be responsible for the operational, day to day running of the centre and full responsibility for the school in the absence of the Executive Headteacher.
- Be responsible and accountable to the Executive Headteacher for the Standards agenda in the school.
- Contribute positively and effectively to the SEND agenda
- Promote safeguarding and the welfare of all the children in the centre, by ensuring that the policies and procedures relating to safeguarding and child protection are fully implemented and followed by all staff.
- Be the Designated Safeguarding Lead
- Responsible for the management of effective teaching and learning and to identify the priorities for improvement and raising standards.
- Responsible for the health and safety and well-being of staff and students.
- Lead the review of EHCP's.
Essential Qualifications &Experience:
A good honoursdegree in a relative subject.
Qualifiedteacher status.
Evidence ofappropriate professional development (NPQH, NPQSL)
Evidence ofleadership in a school.
Successfulleadership and management experience in a school
Experience ofworking within a Special School environment
Successfulleadership and experience of managing the EHCP process and review cycle
Involvement inschool self-evaluation and development planning
A proven trackrecord in raising achievement within his/her own teaching.
Experience ofraising achievement through intervention in teaching process.

• Problem-solvingskills and the ability to handle sensitive situations effectively
