Description

We're looking for an inspiring individual to step in for six months and lead our Business Development team at BSU. In this pivotal role, you'll oversee New Business, expand and diversify our Short Course Unit, and strengthen our Partnerships and Alumni work.

You'll shape strategy, manage a creative marketing team within the Centre for Innovation and Knowledge Exchange, and represent BSU at external events-promoting our innovative work across the Centre.

This is a fixed term contract role for six months.

About the Role

The post holder will lead the Business Development team, which includes New Business, the Short Course Unit, Marketing, Partnerships, and Alumni. Working collaboratively with area managers, you will help shape and deliver strategies that align with the university's overarching goals and ensure performance targets are met.

A core responsibility of this role is to drive the growth of the New Business arm within the Short Course Unit. This includes attending events to represent the team, generating leads for bespoke training opportunities, and supporting the development of commercial short courses in collaboration with both internal colleagues and external stakeholders. You will also be responsible for maintaining and expanding relationships with a range of external partners, including businesses, social enterprises, charities, and public bodies such as WEMCA, BaNES Council, and 3SG.

You will provide strategic leadership across the university's partnerships and alumni activities, including initiatives such as the Bath Social Impact Network, alumni engagement, and regional partnerships.

The role also includes management of the Marketing Team within the Centre for Innovation and Knowledge Exchange. You will ensure that all areas of the Centre are supported in achieving their objectives through effective strategic direction and oversight.

As an externally-facing role, you will act as a representative of BSU and the Centre at external events, actively promoting our innovative initiatives and strengthening relationships with key stakeholders.

About You

• Experience of Business Development including bringing in new leads and converting to new clients
• Experience of networking and attending external events as business representative
• Line management experience and ability to lead a team
• Experience of writing strategic papers and guiding a team through implementation
• Financial management experience and ability to keep to and implement budgets

Additional Information

Salary Grade - Starting from GBP 57,422 rising to GBP 60,907 per annumThe salary range shows the potential maximum pay progression in addition to any annual inflationary increase to your pay. Please note that our default position is to appoint into the lower end of the range, unless there are exceptional circumstances.This is a fixed term contract role for six months.
