Head of Business Analysis

Role Purpose

The purpose of the role is to develop and manage a dedicated Business Analysis team, working to deliver implementation projects for our clients across our product portfolio, in addition to supporting internally facing projects.

Key Responsibilities

  • Working with the Head of Product to ensure the Business Analysis team has the tools, processes and practices to enable it to operate at a world class level. This includes our documentation set and governance process for how analysis is carried out across the project lifecycle.
  • Promoting an awareness of Business Analysis as an essential function and raising the profile of the team within the organisation will be a key component of the role.
  • Managing the Business Analysis team, you will work collaboratively with our Project Management and Product Delivery functions to ensure projects are resourced appropriately.
  • Working collaboratively with Product, Technology and Project Management, to ensure business requirements are elicited, captured and managed effectively in accordance with agreed processes.
  • Coaching and mentoring your team, enabling them to develop their product and industry knowledge to supplement their Business Analysis skills.
  • In addition to team management, acting as an individual contributor, carrying business analysis activities on projects across our portfolio.
  • Define and own the Analysis Framework, ensuring it is applied consistently and appropriately across our project portfolio.
  • Drive the adoption of industry best practices both in terms of tools and techniques, drawing on previous experience in these areas, and ensuring it is done it a collaborative, inclusive manner.
  • Acts as an ambassador for Business Analysis as a discipline across the business, promoting an understanding of the role of the BA across the organisation.
  • Management of both less experienced staff and other managers within their area.

Other Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the scheduling and delivery of business analysis output.
  • Responsible for ensuring analysis is conducted according to the agreed process, to the required levels of quality and in line with industry best practice.
  • Fostering a common sense of identity and corporate culture within Business Analysis.
  • Ensuring all required skillsets are developed and maintained across the team through matrix management and forecasting.
  • Delivery of regular and meaningful management information on team activities to Head of Product and other senior stakeholders.
  • Acts as an escalation point for project issues.
  • Documents business requirements and produces other business-technical documentation to a high level of quality.

  • Business Process Modelling Notation (BPMN)
  • UML
  • Data modelling
  • SQL server
  • Industry messaging protocols, including FiX, ISO15022, ISO20022, XML, JSON, CSV
  • Microsoft office suite
  • Software development lifecycle in an Agile environment
  • Behaviour Driven Development and use of gherkin syntax
  • Jira
  • Confluence
