Job overview
We are seeking a highly experienced and compassionate Head Anatomical Pathology technician/Mortuary manager to lead our mortuary services with professionalism, dignity, and clinical excellence at East Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust. This is a pivotal leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of mortuary operations, ensuring the highest standards of care for the deceased and their families, and maintaining compliance with legal and regulatory requirements
Main duties of the job
You will need to have significant experience in a senior mortuary role, with proven leadership skills. Your knowledge of mortuary legislation, health and safety, and infection control will need to be exceptional and in depth. Communication and interpersonal skills, with a compassionate approach and ability to work under pressure and handle sensitive situations with discretion is essential. You will lead by example and be a role model for the people you lead.

Qualifications
Essential criteria
- RSPH Certificate and Diploma in Anatomical Pathology Technology
- Registration with the Academy of Healthcare Scientists
- Educated to Master's Degree level or equivalent experience
Desirable criteria
- Counselling experience
- Formal qualification in mentorship
Experience
Essential criteria
- Experience of mortuary management (at least three years as a Deputy Mortuary Manager) including the recruitment and selection process, managing absence, performance and the appraisal process, and handling difficult issues and resolution management
- Rota management
Desirable criteria
- Experience of practical training for Trainee Pathologists
- Experience of working with Forensic teams in the Post Mortem room
