Your Role:We are seeking a strategic Head of Acquisition to lead the growth of The Sun's audience and subscriber base across paid and owned channels. This role will be responsible for identifying, targeting, and converting new audiences - turning brand awareness into loyal, engaged users and customers. You will combine data-led decision making with creative campaign execution, working across the full marketing funnel.

Day to day you will

  • Develop and lead The Sun's acquisition strategy to deliver significant audience growth across The Sun's products and subscription proposition.
  • Identify and target new audience segments using insight, market trends, and data analytics to inform campaign planning.
  • Oversee all acquisition campaigns across paid media (social, search, display, video, affiliates) and owned channels.
  • Optimise conversion rates through continuous testing and refinement of creative, messaging, customer journeys and AI technology.
  • Work cross-functionally with editorial, product, analytics, and tech teams to create seamless user journeys that drive performance.
  • Manage agency and media partner relationships to maximise ROI and reach.
  • Own acquisition budgets and deliver growth targets within agreed cost-per-acquisition metrics.
  • Implement a robust measurement framework to track performance, understand attribution, and report results to senior stakeholders.
  • Champion innovation by testing new platforms, formats, and targeting capabilities to keep The Sun at the forefront of digital marketing.

What we're looking for from you

  • A background in a senior acquisition, performance marketing, or growth role, ideally within a media, subscription, or e-commerce environment.
  • Deep knowledge of paid acquisition channels (social, search, programmatic, video) and owned channels (CRM, onsite, app).
  • Strong analytical skills with experience using data platforms, attribution tools, A/B testing methodologies and AI technology.
  • Commercially astute with experience managing significant budgets and delivering ROI-focused campaigns.
  • Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills.
  • Highly organised, proactive, and able to balance long-term strategic vision with short-term delivery.
