Join Lancashire County Council in this exciting opportunity to lead one of the region's most vital services-shaping the future of inclusive, efficient, and sustainable transport across Lancashire.
With responsibility for a multi-disciplinary team of around 1,000 staff, you will oversee the delivery of essential services including public transport, home-to-school and SEND transport, concessionary travel, adult day and specialist transport, and fleet management. This is a pivotal role in ensuring our communities are connected, supported, and empowered through accessible transport solutions.
About the Role
Reporting to the Director of Highways and Transport, you will lead the strategic planning, development, and delivery of the Accessible Transport Service. You'll be responsible for:
- Accessible Transport operations and strategy
- Home-to-school and SEND transport
- Adult day and specialist transport
You'll provide strategic leadership to continuously adapt and transform services, ensuring they operate efficiently, innovatively, and in alignment with the Council's long-term ambitions. You'll also lead on business planning, budgeting, performance management, and service improvement, while representing the Council at external forums and stakeholder engagements.
About You
We are looking for someone who can lead with purpose and clarity. A strategic thinker who can build strong relationships across the council, with partners, and the public. Ideally, you will have:
- Significant senior leadership experience in transport or strategic operations
- A strong track record of delivering high-quality services and managing large teams
- Experience of leading, inspiring and motivating colleagues and partners to drive service improvement
- Strategic vision, financial acumen, and a commitment to innovation and continuous improvement
- Experience of managing complex stakeholders and relationships at a senior level
