Job overview

An exciting opportunity for a Band 6 Senior Practitioner Nurse to join the Haringey Crisis Resolution Home Treatment Team has arisen. This is a permanent, full time position that will require working on rotation including night shifts, however, we are very flexible with individual's shift requests. The HCRHTT is a 7 day per week/24hours a day service which provides urgent care for people experiencing mental health crisis as an alternative to hospital admission. The CRHTT is crucial in delivering urgent crisis resolution assessments and treatment for service users by assessing their needs and caring for them in the least restrictive environment.

Main duties of the job

We require an experienced Band 6 RMN (or an experienced Band 5 RMN who is looking for a promotion) and can bring their own professional expertise to our fast-paced team. The right candidate should be confident in managing risk in the least restrictive way with support from the team. By its nature, crisis work requires professionals who have a broad range of skills including being skilled mental health assessors with an ability to signpost service users towards the most effective treatment pathways.

Working for a Crisis Home Treatment team in Haringey means no two days are the same. The service we provide is critical to those in a mental health crisis and helps enable specialist support from the onset. We are an urgent care service and aim to respond at the soonest opportunity to ensure seamless care and better outcomes for patients.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

As a mental health practitioner you will be responsible for the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of care. This includes assessing those with high risk of self harm and suicide and have serious mental health problems.

As part of your role you will be expected to offer support and guidance to the junior staff around you. Supervision will be offered regularly, alongside regular team meetings, and opportunities to engage with clinical supervision. This ensures that staff feel valued, supported and have access to the correct support.

Education and Qualification

Essential criteria

  • Registered mental Health nurse (NMC registration)

Desirable criteria

  • MSc in relevant field

Experience and knowledge

Essential criteria

  • Demonstrable experience of working in a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Demonstrable robust knowledge of risk management and its application to service user, carer and staff safety
  • Demonstrable understanding of a range of assessment tools and treatment modalities
  • Experience of leadership of junior staff in a clinical setting
